HELP: Bridging 2 Ch amp for 1 CVR DVC 4 ohms

how can i maximize the power of the Sony amplifier? I bridged the 2 CH amp, apparently the amp can't handle Kicker CompVR Dual 4. So I just used one vocie coil. Help me out on this. below is the specs of the amp. Is this amp stable at bridged Dual 4? thanks

Sony 1200W Bridgeable 2-Channel MOSFET Amplifier with Variable Low-Pass Crossover

Model: XM-2200GTX

1200W peak, 500W RMS x 1 @ 4 ohms, bridged

200 watts RMS x 2 @ 4 ohms

250 watts RMS x 2 @ 2 ohms

Stereo or bridged-mono output; tri-way capable

Selectable 10dB bass boost centered at 40Hz

Preamp and speaker-level inputs

Gold-plated connectors provide reliable signal and power connections

You probably wired them in parallel creating a 2ohm load which the amp is not stable at[bridged]. You can however hook each coil up to a channel which would give you 200wrmsX2 creating a total of 400wrms,

or.. what would be better is to wire the sub in series which would be an 8 ohm load and then bridge it.. you'd see 500wrms plus it's alot better than having a coil on each channel.. you don't risk anything..

Where do you get the 500wrms from there buddy?

I would either do what cheeseburger said and series the coils then run the amp bridged, or I would just get an RCA Y if you are running a stereo input so that you only have one of the RCA's for both inputs on the amp, eliminates the chance of a different signal on the channels.

And if he uses his sub out, or he tweaks the crossovers and filters right, he wouldnt notice the stereo mode with sub frequencies anyways //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i mis-read... don't be an ***.. however.. you'll get the same wattage in 8ohm mono as 4 ohm stereo... and it's safer
No ******* remark intended, sorry you took it that way. How do you know the power at 8ohms mono though? I find it hard to believe you get the same power seeing as how the ratings are:

500W RMS x 1 @ 4 ohms, bridged

200 watts RMS x 2 @ 4 ohms

I highly doubt the design of that amp allows for him to lose only 100w when doubling impedance.

Could be wrong, my physics is getting rustier by the day but

p=ei

r=e/i

ri=e

p=i^2r

p/r=i^2

sqrt(p/r)=i

sqrt(500/4)=11.180

sqrt(500/8)=7.906

So whilst running the same power but different impedances, this shows he will need to up the voltage at 8ohms to reach the same power, and I doubt he is doing so. So how is he seeing the same power at 8ohms mono as he is at 4ohms stereo, and losing only 100wrms from 4ohm mono?

Sorry, but he never said he had a Sub out. Since he was using a 2 channel amp with a sub I chose to err on the side of him not having a sub out deck.

Intent well taken. I think though, if he did go with stereo, as said before, eq'd right he would probably not notice the difference unless he was watching a movie or something.

Hi there! Thanks for the help guys. Is this the right way to connect? what do mean when you say sub out? thanks again

because you only gain 100 watts when you half the impedance

200x2 @4 ohm

250x2 @2 ohm..
