Help!! Amp keeps going into "protect mode"

My amp keeps going into protect mode every time I get to a certain volume level. Depends on the song where that is. But say i turn my head unit up to "25" and it goes off, all i have to do is turn it down to "24" and it comes back on. Does it all the time. I can turn it up to a certain level and then I know that's it and just bump it back.

I haven't done the "Big 3". I haven't checked all levels with a dmm yet. I do not have a HO alternator either. I'm wondering if I have voltage drop. o_O

If that were the case, would another battery fix that?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Set the amp GAIN properly. If it is going into protect, you have to turn the gain down.

If you think you have voltage drop issues, then you have to measure the voltage at the amp power terminals with a DMM and see if it drops as you turn up volume.

Yeah, put the probes on the power wire and ground wire of the amplifier. Multimeter on DC. Do not put it on the wires that go to your speakers. M

That is correct. I like these as they are twisted pair and the RCA ends are thick and grip quite nicely...
