HELP!!! Alt options

what do you mean max 200 at 800 rpm? It does more than 200 above 800 rpm or that is it? I'd get 200 at 800 rpm because for my car, idle is 700 rpm. my max is like 270+ at 2500 rpm or so. You can't forget about idle output because thats where you will be sitting the most in traffic. Some companies will say just idle but wont state exact idle rpm and even though it may do 250 amps at 1200 rpm, when it gets down to around 600-700 rpm, you may only have about 50 or so amps output which your car alone may take up about half.

Depends on the kind of driving he does. I don't have traffic where I live so I'm almost always cruising which means 250a @ 1200 rpms works great, now I still get 115a @ idle which is nice but not really needed since my town has 3 traffic lights total. But if he lives somewhere he's stuck in rush hour everyday then yeah, go with the 200a @ 800.

the longest i ever wait at a light is 4 minutes max. and btw im not gonna be playin it full tilt at a light anyway because of the cops in our area.

the 200a alt will be built from my old alt. the guy said his work bench is a max of 800 rpm so thats where the 200a would be at.

the 250a alt say 105a at idle but it doesnt say what the idle rpm is.

also the guy who's gonna rebuild my alt said im gonna lose some amperage at idle because of the rebuild. he said it will be lower than my idle now but no exact number tho

depends on what they do at idle and what you are using it for? cruising down the road or parked at a comp.. what rpms are you going to be running mor eoften then not when you are playing your system.

i was thinkin of putting my car in comps but it doesnt really matter. I just wanna at least stay in the mid 13's at full tilt whether im cruising or parked or whatever.

just got off the phone with the guy selling the 250a alt. he's an ebay seller. he said you can get about 100a @ 700 rpm and then about 250a over 1000 rpm.

now the 200a alt is local and he says it'll do 200a @ around 800 rpm.

what you guys think?

is the one that states 200a @ 800 rpm going to rewind your stock alt?

edit- I reread the op.

NO, you don't want a rewound alt. If all you have to do is rewound a stock alt, why is a company like DC Power having to build completely new alts to do those numbers? I call BS on that.
