<-- Yes, that's me.
However, sadly, a lot of them run a lot more expensive. As much as I have trolled by ragging on Hifonics, they aren't that bad. One of my friends has been running a BXi 1606d for several years now. It even survived his last vehicle crash that resulted in a total loss of his 2006 Civic Si.
Regardless, I would run a Hifonics Brutus or Audio Que before I would run a Kenwood! Unfortunately, I have a long laundry list of amps that I would run before I make it to Hifonics or Audio Que //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

To address this - frequently, subs are not blown by too much power, but rather an unclean signal. Slightly clipped or so.do i really need that much power for these subs tho? i heard kenwood subs are overrated when it comes to power.
if you guys think it would make a big difference paying for the $250 amp then i guess i'll take your word. id rather save the money cuz i still gotta buy wiring and to get it installed.... is that what you guys would do? b/c again i really have no clue when it comes to this
if its not gonna make a big difference id rather just get the alpine and save $100 b/c i dont have to have the best sounding system u know what i mean.....
To avoid this, you want a good amp that will put at above the rated power for the subwoofers, from a decent manufacturer, so you can be assured of a good clean signal. You can manipulate gains down to avoid blowing the subs - what you can't do is get more power out of an amp than it can provide, and there is where many problems typically arise.
Hifonics is a good budget brand amplifier that will be fairly reliable for you, and the audioque is a bit more durable than that, and that will produce a clean signal to its rated power.
The benefits from those are that they can be run at 1 ohm safely, and the audioque more so, as it is fairly reliable there. This means you can later upgrade subwoofers, and you'll have more power to match them with. And you have the overhead to keep a good clean signal to the subwoofers.
Many of the other brands are underrated, rated at higher voltages than you will use, or just aren't reliable. Not to mention, they won't run at lower resistances without blowing up on you. It would be worth it to upgrade up. Spend the extra sixty dollars now, rather than replacing subs or an amp later.
