help 4 gauge too big for amp connections

to paraphrase Tommy DeVito: You mean, let me understand this, 'cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little fucked up maybe, but its hilarious how? I mean hilarious like I'm a clown? I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to ******' amuse you? What do you mean hilarious ? hilarious how? How is this hilarious ?

So can I cut enough from 4 gauge to fit in an 8 gauge ring terminal without causing problems?
Untwist the wire and group just enough to twist back together to go back into the terminal. Snip the rest off. The other way people are telling you is much more intricate and time consuming. Is it optimal to reduce your wire to half its size at its connection point? No. Is it practical? Yes.

if he cant afford a few dollars adapter he shouldn't be doing this hobby then lol this is a professional sport
If people have a hobby, and try to do it to their best ability; they should never be discouraged from doing it and hoping to one day be able to more fully enjoy it as their funds increase.

99% of us started small and cheap, thinking it was wonderful. He's better than that, hoping to upgrade but doesn't have the money for it. I'd say he's ahead of me 10 years ago.

GL with this hobby neogen, it is quite expensive, but it is something that is easy to enjoy, makes lots of good friends, and is a wonderful escape from the every day mundane world.

Which is it hobby or professional sport?
Im not looking to break any records or compete at any level nor am I trying to impress high school kids. I do this because I enjoy my music when it sounds like it was meant to. My install looks like garbage because I don't care how it looks as long as it works.

I hate when people come into threads and start saying "if u can't afford the best don't bother" if that's what I was looking 4 the title for my thread would have been I didn't have the money so I did this wrong please come on here and give me sh!! about it
a professional hobby

not sure i am ahead of you since i am 32 and just now getting into this. but thanks for the support

op, this did not need to go this far, sorry that people are giving you mixed info, but literally anything will work. if your amp takes 10 gauge wire, then stripping 4 gauge down to 8 or 10 gauge will work perfectly fine. as would gauge reducers. so would a distribution block. as long as the wire is connected properly, and is anywhere from 10 gauge up, you will be fine.

no worries....i expect to get mixed info anytime i post on this site (or any site haha). everyone has their own ways and experience and different ways of passing on their advice. i actually quite enjoy this site because of things like that...not despite.

in fact if i thought i could build a car audio site that could compete with this one i would start my own but you guys have a massive following and A LOT of info. it would be almost impossible to build a site worthy enough to drag you all away haha....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sneaky.gif.7189749b3a3f769e8815b47e8ae87f88.gif

A group of us are actually working on that at the moment...

not quite sure the fuss, but i don't use reducers, mostly because of the bulk. have done the block many times, but mostly, i just trim it down, and then solder the wire, so it gets contact with the full cable, and keep all the strands under control
