help 4 gauge too big for amp connections

My connections on my amp for power and ground are too small for my 4 gauge wire. Different wire or different amp is not an option.

How have you guys gotten around this?

buy a reducer or run a razor blade CAREFULLY around the wire at where you started stripping the sheath until you have removed enough to fit it in there.

So can I cut enough from 4 gauge to fit in an 8 gauge ring terminal without causing problems?

I just take off the jacket, twist it up tight and use the serrated part of my knife to chop enough strands off unit it fits.

Use a wire stripper on the 8 ga mark.

^^this except the amp is built for 10 gauge. ..but I think I can fit 8 gauge ring terminals on the power and ground.

take a flat tip screw driver and spread the wire opening wider on the spade/ring terminal insert wire and crush.

Snippa snippa close to the insulation and cover it all with heatshrink.

Why do you have such big wire, are you expecting to install something else along with that amp? If so maybe bite the bullet and get a distribution block, you'll need it later anyway.

What on earth amp could you have that only supports 10 gauge, and why on earth do you have such massive wire for it? Haha. Either way, I just strip it off a lot.
