help 4 gauge too big for amp connections

Its an alpine mrp-m350 its only a couple hundred watt. I ran the 4 gauge because I was planning on installing a bigger better amp with better subs but funds didn't work out like I planned.

Just cut the wire until it fits. Why spend $ you do not have to? I have a 1/0 on a 4awg right now. My wife thinks that it is funny I throw all of scrap copper in a bin but that will pay for something one day.

Which is it hobby or professional sport?

Im not looking to break any records or compete at any level nor am I trying to impress high school kids. I do this because I enjoy my music when it sounds like it was meant to. My install looks like garbage because I don't care how it looks as long as it works.

I hate when people come into threads and start saying "if u can't afford the best don't bother" if that's what I was looking 4 the title for my thread would have been I didn't have the money so I did this wrong please come on here and give me sh!! about it

O he thinks hes a bad ass cuz he spends 10 bucks on wire reducers and doesnt just cut wire lol

Normally I wouldn't have asked this. If I had been going from 4 to 6 I would have just trimmed to fit but going from 4 to 8 I didn't want to cause electrical issues.

it takes a 1/4" spade terminal. don't trim the wire till it fits, that's ghetto. if you can't find any and need a couple, lmk i have some.

What's ghetto about making something work? Would you rather re-run 8ga and then when you want to upgrade re-run 4ga/0ga all over again? Come on bro. After trimming you can simply cut the tip off that you trimmed.. lol. I always use a little tape on the tip of the wire anyway so there is no exposed wire outside of the terminal. You'd never even know..

i understand the making it work but how do you figure to re-run 8 gauge when you can just use a spade terminal that cost about $1?

i didn't know they had 1/4" spades that will accept 4awg wire. to be honest i didnt even think to search for something like that and had i known i could get them i would have. however the amp is now hooked up "ghetto" and will remain as such for, hopefully, less than 2 weeks.

as i side note in order to run my infinity properly i have to have the gain on the amp cranked all they way up and i just drove 1.5 hours to work on no less than 50% volume. when i got to work i popped the trunk to check the amp and it felt nearly as cool as it did when i started the car this morning....nice.
