HELLP Massive Audio P3000.1 wtf?

plays fine for a minute or two then cuts out, blinks power light leds on top plexi flash with it no protect mode or anything, then plays again for a min or two, repeats over and over

had a friend look at it who is pretty knoledage of electronics, replaiced 4 big capacitors,(they were leaking, bulging. hooked it back up still doing it.

what could it be IT IS NOT MY CAR. running 2 kenetiks zero guarge 140 amp breaker. new remote wire ran new rcas, i have another amp in for the time being, and havent had one issue. also i watched the voltage on my system and never dropped under 13v under load. subs wired to 2 ohms.

^^^^^ and make sure that your running both subs at the same ohm load lol... same thing check your speaker wires or anything else to make sure it isn't grounding out.

y Ground is fine. Still does it. What should the voltage of the remote wire be? I tapped into a fuse box because I'm using 2012 focus factory h/u... Could that be the issue? I ran a jbl gto1200 the same way same ground point same spot on fuse box for remote wire. And no problems. Also the amp I have substituting my massive is working no problems even though it's a weak pos.

You went from a 1200 to a 3000. When that Massive pulls power the ground may not be supporting it. It might have been good for the 1200, but might not be for the 3000. Check it, make sure there is no corrosion (bare metal connection). You would be surprised how many times grounds fail over time due to corrosion. I have also seen grounds that were not ground to bare metal working with one amp and fail with another.

i meant to post this yesterday....

sadly, we had it working great for about 20 mins on low volume everything seemed ok. closed the trunk went for a lil cruise to turn it up a bit and then... smoke everywhere. 2 of the capacitors out of the 4 we replaced blew up. my buddy says he has a better idea of what it is now that he has something to go off of other then the sign that those caps were leaking. he says he'll get it going again but idk anymore... I'm worried its just going to be a very problematic amp for the rest of its life.

Those amps by all accounts are decent provided you keep them over 2 ohms. If you think it's worth repairing, don't let your friends tinker with it, send it to someone who knows what they're doing.

he knows what hes doing, he said its the diodes that are causing the capacitors to fail and he also said he wants to replace the samller capacitors cause he said one is buzzing

i did he is an electrical engineer.... repaired many things for me, 62 inch dlp tv my 4 channel aura amp. phones. etc
Thats great but a well seasoned amp repair tech knows more about this particular area than your friend whos an EE. They may have also already worked on one of these with a similar issue that they know exactly how to fix instead of just replacing parts and waiting for others to go poof. Sounds like ya got it all figured out though bro. You don't need us.

i know this is old topic but i have the same amp with the same, problem with a couple big capacitors, leaking, bulging.I HAVE ALSO HAD MY AMP REPAIRED Before and have been recently told that its most likely because when it was repaired THEY ONLY FIXED THE BIG CAPACITORS THAT WERE BAD & WHEN REPLACING THEM YOU NEED TO ""ALL"" OF THEM @ SAME TIME !!! Not Sure if this is 100% TRUE cuz i Have Not REPAIRED YET.. But Just wanted to SHARE THE INFO... ALSO Would like to know YOUR OUTCOME with the amp?? LMK if u want to sell //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
