Hey ppl i know the diffrence in bass sound between Heavy Metal and say Hip-Hop or Dance is pretty big but i still really want to get a couple subs i was just wondering if there is a certain thing to look for that would make a certain sub a better choice over another kind for my choice i music i listen to alot of Pantera and Cannibal Corpse type stuff TONS of really fast double kick and i was really trying to get that Emphasized the most so yea i hoep you all understood that THANKS ALOT!

P.S. Total budget just for the subs i can spend MAX $$500 but know someone who can build me an enclosure.

IDQ's would be a nice choice. I would go with 2 10's, 1 12 maybe, nothing over a 12 tho. 10's might be your best bet, even some of the 12's will skip notes on really fast double bass.

how do you figure that?

most subs use the same motor for 10s 12s and 15s and there is only about another 1/4 gram of weight between the diffrent cone sizes...

subs do not move faster than diffrent sizes

Hogwash I say.. My B-15 loves double bass, so I don't know where you get that theory.. Never misses any 'notes'..

What you will prefer is a sealed box built to spec over a ported if you're listening to mostly metal, imo..

yep sealed box will give you the flattest response over the sub bass frequencies and will sound better, isntead of a ported box that has around a 12 db gain at tuning =)

you're an idiot, quit spreading this ignorant bullshit... "skip notes".. gimme a break... you have NO clue about what you're talking about... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif A 15" is not inherently sloppier than a 10", do you realize many pro audio speakers use a 15" for midrange?? The cone size alone makes NO FUCKING DIFFERENCE IN SOUND. Try learning something before acting know-it-all and giving people terrible advice...

You also have no fucking clue what you're talking about, christ people... you have obviously never designed ported boxes, if you had, you would know that the gain around tuning is highly variable //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif In fact, you can make a ported box play ABSOFUCKINGLUTLEY flat in an open environment..

yes you CAN make them flat...

lets do some looking though shall we?

gary biggs one of my buddies....his regal his front stage (subs) was sealed

marks 4 runner his subs that were on for sq ALSO sealed

david hogan...won sq in meca a couple of times the box in his truck SEALED

people use sealed boxes because its easier to create a flat response on the rta compared to a ported box which is going to have a port resonsance PERIOD wood resonates and the wood of the port resonates...dumbass have a ****ing clue who your talking to before you start your shit.

i've helped on world class sound quality installs (some ported as well that flunked *** on the rta) and spl installs i'm not an idiot

Ouch, I knew this was going to happen.. That's why I didn't get into details, I just made a general statement based on the kind of music he listens to, and I tread carefully while making it, but I still stand behind it.. In general, a sealed box is going to be preferred for the type of music he listens to, but it's far from his only choice.. I figured a n00b with 1 post asking this type of question wanted a quick answer, and that's what I gave.. No need to fly off the handle and assume nobody knows what their talking about..
