The red ones that is ...... Not sure of the model # ..... They were in a Honda Accord , with Zapco Competition amps pushing them .....

Now I see why C&E didn't exactly luuuuv them ...... They sounded BAD....REAL BAD !! After spending 4 hours trying to tweak , tune , and even pray these into sounding good , the owner installed a pair of Boston Z6's he had. Fresh out of the box , and without tuning , the Z6's OWNED the Zapco POS's ......

Note to Zapco : Stick with making amps !!!

just a marketing gimmick IMO to try and get their name out more. They should have modeled them after someone elses comps. Or better yet, built their own crossover and mixed parts from rainbow, dyn, diamond, etc etc in.

Yeah .....I know they are not a speaker company persay , however I was still shocked at just how bad they are !

interesting, someone said here that CnE was lying and they heard from audiophiles that they were the BEST sounding speakers, youre saying they sound bad, someone is lying here.
Whoah there Kojak ..... Hang on Baretta ...... You a detective or something ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The ONLY thing I did , is tell it like it was ..... I heard them , they ****.

You probably heard from Bri187 they were God's gift to the world of mobile audio. If a steaming pile of dog sh!t had the name Zapco somewhere on it , Bri187 would claim it was divine intervention that we now all bow to the Zapco Dogsh!t pile ...... Because it is THE BEST ( trumpets from heaven are playing ) .... LOL

Seriously now Dude ...... Zapco should really , really , really stick to making amps ONLY .....

I could see them making more signal processing gear in the future, maybe even a head unit of sorts.. but drivers of any sort.. they should stay away from. What would Zed say if he saw this?

Have you ever seen or toyed with an Arc DXE processor? It blows away any current Zapco processing device in sheer quality, fit , and finish, precise user control , adjustments on the fly.

The finest car audio analog piece I've had the pleasure of playing with, w/ digital controllers to boot to precisely pinpoint your adjustments.

Rob Zeff simply took his bag of tricks (hmmmn brain) when he sold that joint.

I have not heard the components so I cannot comment. But based on that review, and blue's impressions..it doesnt sound like my cup of tea, nor justify a 'Zapco price'....

MMM the DXE.. thats one of those things I really wan't and I could probably afford.. I just don't want to spend that much on a DSP unit ATM. I need to go find someone close to me that has one so I can play with it. That would probably make up my mind.

Isn't it capable of balanced output as well?

Yup, heck I cant afford it myself...

Just making a comparison, Zapco is talked alot as in high regard (which it deserves, they stand behind their product), their product is solid-but by no means end all/be all....The gap between their offerings and the competition is not what it once was, as there is equally/better performing product out there- not so much price being a point here, but really 'value' ......and as we know what value means in relation to performance when talking high end difference is minimal...in that sense you want better better technology/form...the current zap pieces are really nice, but dont offer much form ...kinda ancient...

There isn't an true analog unit on the market with the function/form of the dxe...digital control of the sickest quality xovers right on your dash:crazy:

for one, the zapco components are bad ***. i know people on here are huge arc fans, so i think the end results are a little biased. the zapco red cones are a sweet speaker. also the zapco comp component set is probably the sweetest soudning speaker i have heard. i have put those up against the z6's and i found that the z6's were not nearly as well defined and didnt have the mid bass to keep up. phsyically the zapcos could play louder without distorting.

i dont feel that the dxe even compared to the SP7 or the SX-SLII. not even close. but what do i know, i am arguing with arc boy.

oh, dont even get me started on the zapco digitals by the way. talking about sickest control possible. with the 10 band eq on each channel and digital time alignment built into the amp, there is really no need to have an in dash EQ. i was testing with one a few weeks ago in the dealers car, and with the SX-SLII flat, it sounded unreal. everything was so correct as far as time alignment goes, that it almost sounded weird. we started to find bass notes that we couldnt even hear on any other system. only a true audiophile can appreciate that kind of sound though.

So basically you will defend anything that has a Zapco badge on it? Don't get me wrong I like there amps alot. There procs are nice too but there comps sound like shit. sorry but it's true.
