Heard the new Zapco Reference spkrs today ....

hehe, manny.. this guy cracks me up
Well the boy's feelings are hurt....afterall to him they must sound very nice to his

Diamond D6's he has....yet the other person here who is actually someone I'd consider has a clue as far a musical reproduction and would value his opinion (whether I'd agree with it or not) who is a musician,

and has experience with real speakers, made by speaker dedicated companies....found'm to be teh suckey.....its his opinion boohoo

Zapco is still a great company. No one is bashing, Lord forbid if theres something better out there.....haha

The bottom line, the #'s dont lie, they speak for themselves......high end name is envolved, then it **** better measure well to justify the price tag. Heck $1200 to get 'used to' speakers? You can do that under $200....

They did not measure well when tested, and its documented - thats worse than anything ,anyone can say about them on a forum...

Marketing or not, if you are going to put your hard earned name on something, the stuff should live up to the name.
you are right..

Hard earned name? Haha....that name lost its identity when the the reason it was worth something for 20+ yrs moved on.... I wonder if Zeff would've approved of these speakers being the anal retentive he is, or better yet stuck with what he knew instead...

Are you saying Zapco is not a well regarded name? Their amps seem to be held in very high regard.

I dont think hes implying that at all. Just basically stating the name was based on Rob Zeff and his decades of development with the product getting it to where it is now.

So his focus was on my use of "hard earned," while I was focusing on the name brand. Is that correct? I didn't know all of the background of Zapco(just that the name still seems to have quite a bit of respect in the amp world).

Yea that pretty much sums it up. Basically to the point of what got it that name is no longer there.

Hes on the road right now, but Im sure hell chime in when he gets back.

Zapco is still up there with the finest, and they have helluva designers still there running ship. Trust me lots of engineers inhaled many farts along Zeff all those years. Easy as opening one up and you'll see the apple dont fall far from the tree.

Just now apparently are trying to spread their wings onto uncharted territories....whether it'll help the name hold its worth or commercialize is yet to be seen...

Theyre both great companys and i think we should leave it at that....

/thread
agreed...

It was never about Arc vs Zapco, this thread that is...i must admit i went a lil' off topic....but I was acused of being 'biased' of their speakers because of the amp I choose to use and my interpretation of a shitty mag review. Meanwhile I'm a die hard Zapco fan, always have been...have used their products and who's to say I wont again.....

But it wont be their speakers...lol:laugh:

Agreed bud ..... I still think Zapco makes great amps , but there is NOT the big divide there used to be between Zapco and it's competition. As far as Arc and Zapco amps ..... They sound the same .... and YES , I have owned both.

Arc vs. Zapco is indeed NOT the issue here ..... The issues are :

#1 - The Zapco components **** .... and

#2 - Bri sleeps with Zapco , and wears horse blinders for ANYTHING else.

Why is it considered out of the realm of possibility that a company like Zapco could build crappy product along side quality product. Pheonix Gold did this, and then went to full crap mode, and gave up on the high end market IMO. I think Zapco makes 2 great series of amps, and 1 decent series. I have not heard the speakers, but from someone that has, they blow goats. That's what this forum is all about. I am just hoping they **** enough Zapco bags speaker production and sticks to what they know, rather than they go down the shitter like pheonix gold.
