Yea it was funny when I asked him what numbers it does, he did one of those "think out loud" things asking himself, "****, what did I hit in florida?" Like he went to some big show or something. Then he was like "oh, umm 169, no no, 170." As soon as I heard 169 I was like Oh geez //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif.

I mean don't get me wrong it was pretty loud, wasn't impressive though. Just not as loud as I expected with the equipment he had. Also the fact that he said "When you take the ports away it makes it louder for competing" was pretty entertaining.

Whenever people say stuff like that, I simply walk them out to my truck. They then... quickly shutup. Once I started working @CC, I obviously talked about what I knew and such. There was some skeptics, then when any of the people that worked there sat in my truck... I gained immediate respect. Now, if ANYBODY... (even the installers that have been there for year and years) ... has a question they immediately come to me. Or if they are talking with a customer who "talks a good game"... they ask if I can pull my truck around //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. I work with some guys who say they know a real good installer, so I told them I want to meet the guy sometime. He came by and told me all about how he has completely sound deadened his car and how he's in the process of fiberglassing a box for 4 8" w7's on the back seat area and all, all sounded well and he seemed intelligent and compitent and all, .....until he said he was going to be hitting "like 200 decibels" (seriously), at that moment I concluded he was an idiot.

yes, it is isn't it, I have put together several systems for people after they heard mine. just recently I played my system for this kid that I work with, he was in pure awe and afterward I explained to him that I could get him this and that (via internet) and like nothing a few days later he throws me $450 to get him a sub and box. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Yea people at my work ask me to make boxes for them, ask advice about boxes, etc... One of our sales guys got 2 Alpine type S 12"s in a sealed box in his accord, with some rockford fosgate 700 watt amp, and was swearing up and down by it; bragging all day. He kept pulling his car into the bay slamming his subs trying to be cool. I kept quiet until one day I polietly asked him to walk out to my truck, in which he then proceded to nearly vomit. He also commented about the lack of ratteling, and the loud SQ. Now he is mad because I sold my HC 15"s without telling him.

Most of the people I install with are older, and have grown out of the loudness phase though.

Man...every once in a while, I have to deter someone from buying the solid copper wire for thier audio systems but usually they tell me I don't know what I am talking about and buy it anyway. I just tell them cut wire is non-returnable and let them buy what they wish. On staurday, I did help some fellow out building a box with two assasin 8". He didn't claim to hit high numbers, but he thought "old school soundstream" was like gold or something. Nice enough guy, I guess.
