Headunit Problem

I finally got around to installing my Pioneer 8600 into my Ford Explorer today. I soldered all of the wires together in the harness. I went to turn the vehicle on. It comes on and it goes through a demo mode. After the demo mode I go to start listening to the radio, but I hear nothing through the speakers. I try a CD as well and I still don't hear anything.

I was so happy that the thing came on and was working but then to find out I don't hear anything. Anyone have a clue? I am positive all of the wires I need to have hooked up are hooked up. The guy at the shop told me not to hook any of the orange wires up b/c they had something to do with a dimmer. Other then that everything else is hooked up like I was told to do. Any suggestions?

is it still in demo mode? it might not turn on the internal amp if it is. Read the manual and see what it says about that.

Other than that.. check the wiring again. You could have messed something up inadvertantly. I assume your running the speakers off of deck power and not an amp.

I reset the micro-processor on the headunit, I pulled it out and checked all of the connections. Every wire was good. I called the shop and they said that I would probably have to run all new speaker wire through the car. Is that true?

1995 XLT. I'm not quite sure if it is the Premier System or JBL or whatever. I bought it from an elderly lady and she didnt know much about it.

Alright I fixed it. The people at the shop told me I didn't have a factory amp so therefore I wasn't hooking that wire up. But it turns out I do have an amp I wasn't turning it on. Geeze!

Just makes me leary about the shop because as soon as the lady stuck the Ford Keys into the stock radio, she said nope you don't have a factory amp... It isn't located in the right rear panel like I've been told, so does anyone else have a clue... The left rear looks like it has a jack in it and the rear washer fluid...
