Headlights dimming

a good HID ballast will have a regulated output which will resolve headlight dimming due to the internal (and expensive) DC-DC converter to maintain output through the input voltage range. a $50 set won't have that feature and will still dim.

i didn't know you were getting a cheap kit and thought you were getting a proper replacement headlight setup.

joseph suggested me autofasion kissimmee so i bought a pair from them.. lol

are helios bad?

THANKS JOEY LOOK WHAT U DID TO ME! .lol

i'm not saying what you got was bad, i didn't research it. i am just saying what you want for features. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

if i was going to do HID, i would get an entirely new headlight assembly, housing and all.

as an EE and lighting designer, i know that in order to get optimal light output, you need optics specifically designed for the lamp location and type.

I told him to get the DMM's at 4300k, 55 watt version. I am not quite sure what he bought though. They carried them where he was purchasing.
well he ended up selling me helio 8k hid kit... any one know of them?

Wow when did caraudio become a useless place? Your having voltage issues and you bought HID head lights? Not quite sure if your search button doesnt work or if you just like to be sold something. A guy comes on here, SAYS he builds and sells HIDS and it will fix your problem. basically he sold you his product to do nothing for your problem. hmmmm First off, your problem is your battery. Regular batterys are designed to release all there energy at once, HINCE the dimming when the base hits. If you bought a SLOW release battery, and bigger, you would of actually fixed your problem.

You have a voltage problem and you bought head lights.... most retarded thing i've heard of. Good job to the guy who sold him his product

HERES YOUR PROBLEM: CURRENT= POWER (2000W)/ DIVIDED BY VOLTAGE 13.8 = 145 Amp being pulled off your 110 AMP alternator.

lol thanks for your input, it wasnt my MAIN reason of buying them, and it wasnt from anyone on here. Im hoping they make the car look better, also want to upgrade my headlight housing to match what i bought though, and i was hoping i could get some input on what i bought.

what type of battery would i be looking for in my case? and what would one cost, could i buy one locally?

I even put it in caps, hoping you would search.... SLOW RELEASE battery. Either A) buy the biggest you can find and put in the trunk, or buy the biggest battery your car will fit in the tray. Here let me hold your hand.

I suppose since your not seach friendly, i should let you know. Every week you MIGHT need to charge the battery (in the trunk) if you had one in the tray and in the trunk

I get sooooooo annoyed by everyone always saying "get a new alt" "waste 300+ on a new alt" fact is your not running a ton of power and that amp is pretty efficient. ALL YOU NEED IS MORE BATS OR MAYBE JUST A REALLY NICE ONR UBDER THE HOOD.

I run a t2000 not nearly as efficient as yours and more power I have it cranked and NO big 3 (yet) I rarely drop below 14 and I only have 2 optimas.

The problem is that people here are yelling at each other over what to do for his dimming issue - upgrade the alternator, buy more batteries, what have you. Guys, he's simply searching for a fix for his dimming. "Yeah, but dimming comes from voltage drop so he needs to fix that", well, OP says he's barely ever dropping a volt. 13.6 isn't terrible voltage, and like it's been said before, some headlights dim on very, very little drop. If he's gonna have dimming even with a drop of .2v, that means upgrading his electrical isn't going to fix his problem. The HIDs were a simple fix to the dimming. Yes, OP could probably use another battery in his trunk for what he's running, but I honestly don't think a H.O. alternator is in order for this kind of system. If he's got HIDs which fix the dimming problem and puts another battery in the back in the future just to help his electrical out a bit, I think he's gonna be just fine.

thanks again for the feedback, and you joseph.

i would rather buy a battery under the hood then have to charge one in the back of my trunk all the time.

im guessing this can be used either in the trunk or under the hood?

Kinetik HC2400 (KHC2400) 12V High Current Car Audio Power Cell

is there anything i can find just as good for cheaper?

so if i were to get a better battery your sure this would solve the dimming? even if its just under the hood?

can i get some feedback on the hid kid i bought aswell please? should i buy new headlight housings for them?

i was told they're a helios 8k hid kit, so im guessing this is them
