how is their warranty a joke?? if your TV breaks within 4 years they will fix/replace it for no charge.
what turned you off about it.
they dont fix shit man. i got it for a deck before. it started skipping and not reading CDs so i gave it to them. 4 weeks later i get it back and they say it works fine. still skips, so i send it out again. 4 more weeks later i get it back and they said they just cleaned the lens. and it STILL skips. i was furious. so i got my fvcking money back for that joke of a warranty. m and it wasnt any shitty deck. it was a midlevel pioneer.

You Do realize Vizio is based out of Cali right, and that they're major marketing plan is the AMERICAN LCD right?

IMPO, best deal for ~$1k is going to be the new Toshiba regza line. Model 42 (or 46, 52) RV530U.

1080P, 60k hour half life, Variable Contrast Ratio dependant on source (the only thing I dont like), 60hz frame with 8ms response time. Film correction modes, and a 14bit processor with a 14bit panel, unlike sony who will do a 10bit proc. and an 8 bit panel....
Umm visio has been making LCD panels for computers for years, and are the number one tv in japan last I heard... not that big here though. The toshibas are alright, but 8ms response time isn't that great. If you just want to watch movies it's fine, but if you want sports or games i would shoot for at least 6ms response. Also, 1080p is the biggest marketing hype there is. The only thing that you can actually watch in 1080p is Bluray, and I would say most wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between 1080i or 1080p or 720p on any tv smaller than 50". No point in wasting money on a 1080p tv unless you are going to go bluray as well because NOTHING on televison is broadcast in 1080p, and it will probably be a while that you can just hold off and get a 1080p tv a few years down the road for a lot less when you actually need it.

Since I am 10' away, do I need 720p and 1080p? I don't have cable.

A)

-Vizio (at least spell the company name right) was founded in 2003 in Costa Mesa, California by a Korean named William Wang.

-Wang had worked as a consultant for a number of Korean LCD manufacturers but in '03 opened V Inc., which would later become Vizio, to try out the market on his own.

-Their first project was making plasma TV's with I believe, Gateway, until they released their own line in '03...

-And not that big here? They have the largest market share, at 12% just ahead of samsung, sony, toshiba, sharp...

B)

My *** you can see a difference b/w 8ms and 6ms. Its all marketing. The ONLY difference your going to see in motion is going to be 60hz vs. 120hz. End of story.

C)

And while I do agree 1080p is useless unless you get a blu-ray, ps3, or bargain hd-dvd player...why should the OP buy a 720P tv, get a blu-ray in the future, and then finally get the 1080p set. Buy one now, and be set. No sense in leaving yourself short in the future...

If your doing an aerial, get an amplified one to at least get a stronger reception at a closer range, and a broader range. If you find a good deal on a 1080p grab it, like I said in my above post, no sense in leavin yourself short for the future. But your going to receive in 1080i which your 720p tv will just de-interlace to display it. Distance has nothing to do with resolution, nor size. Worst Misconceptions.

Why is Vizio's warranty so shitty? Isn't it because they use scrap/leftover peices from LG, Samsung, ect.?

Other than that, I completely agree with your post. 1080p & 120hz or nothing. I have been looking into the LG 47LBX. Not too bad of a deal. It has both.

From what I've seen in them, alot of the components are LG. But thats not to say their shitty. LG's considered the largest electronic manufacturers in the world, and 1 of the 2 companies that make all their own components (the other is samsung). Have you had a bad experience with vizio's warranty? I havent found a manufacturer warranty I WOULD want to deal with, haha, but at least vizio will give you in-home service with that warranty.

I haven't heard much about thier warranty other than, once something (under warranty) with the tv goes bad, that is it, only because they use other company's parts.

But you are right about tv warranty's in general. Just take what they will give is what is on most of them. I've just heard bad things about Vizios. Price is very nice tho.

Think of it this way...at least you can go to Cali, hand them the TV and stage a sit in at their corporate office. Try that with sony, samsung, sharp, toshiba, haha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
