Have you guys seen this Alpine device..?

I just think it would be nice to load up a 4gig micro drive and be able to use it in the car and be able to quick load and update songs or whatever. Just found it to be cool //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

that looks useful, they should combine it with the ipod interface and sell it for the price of one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

has a usb port, sd card slot, and aux input right there in the **** faceplate... like i said id rather use the alpine piece with a usb cable extension and mount some usb ports in the overhead console or something... just would look kinda tacky having that shit stuck right in the deck

anyone else notice the alpine-ish ripoff??

Specifically on the Alpine unit, does anyone know:

Since the big hype on this unit seems to be the capability to playback from a thumbdrive and thumbdrives only store data (no D/A, no procesors, no amplifiers), so where is the conversion from digital to analog done? Within this box? Within the headunit...? What other USB devices are supported? Any "Plays for Sure devices?" Will it play back WMA lossless directly from a hard drive or thumb drive?

i wont buy any of that, just keep collecting cds and making my setup better

in 5 years, 20+gig hard drives in decks will be the norm

and my cd collection and system will be ready for a badazz deck

The KCA-620M provides basic playback of MP3 and WMA files through the Alpine head unit, displays song tag information on the head unit’s screen, and charges the portable device while the user drives and listens. An advanced Quick Search function – which allows for search by playlist, artist, album or genre – is accessible when the music is purchased from a PlaysForSure online store and played on a supported digital audio player.

i know when using the ipod adapter, the mp3 is played by the ipod and then sent to the deck via line out... so i would assume this box is an mp3 player and just treats anything connected to it as a drive...
