Have a JL 500/1 need a sub!!!!!!!

My boss has a JL 500/1. He wants some "BOOM" in his work truck. It's an '02 X-cab silverado so space is limited under the rear seat. I was thinking 1 12" ported. well a ported box takes up more room then a sealed box so how much space you have to work with?
