Has anyone ever installed a head unit in a Lexus?

Hey guys, I just picked up the Metra dash kit from circuit city and a wiring harness. I also got a JCV KD-AVX2 off of ebay which should be coming in real soon. I have a few questions about wiring. Since I don't plan on upgrading my speakers or stock amp, can I use the head unit with my stock amp to power my speakers? I can't find a wire harness anywhere, do I have to hard wired? I have many more questions. I have a 98 Lexus GS300. I am willing to pay someone who has experince with this kind of install for some install help/advice.

If you can help me PM me. Thanks

and then do what? use my head unit to power my speakers? the guys at circuit city told me if I do that then I will loose my tweeters and stock sub (stock sub doesn't really matter because I don't have it in there anymore)

if i remember right. there is probably an amp at each speaker. i hate working on cars like that. you will have to find each speaker. ALSO you should check the impeadece of them. they are probably 2 omh stocks. if i were you i would get all new speakers.

not really sure of the ohm, guys at CC said 4ohm. I really don't want to get new speakers or amp or anything, just new head unit. Is there any way possible that I could do it without upgrading anything else?

i would check the speakers before you do anything. . guys at CC know nothing really.

i believe there is an adapter that connects to the facroty amp that has a set of female RCA's on it. you run a set of RCA' s from your HU to the adapter and you should be good to go.

i think PAC or PIE makes them.

only bad thing. is if you want to add am amp.

plus it sounds like crap

oh yeah, if its a factory Bose system... i'm 99.9% sure that they are 2 ohm speakers.

you COULD hook the HU up to the spekers but you would proabbly blow fuses.

ive seen it happen before.

Factory system is by Pioneer. I'm trying to find out how many ohms my stock speakers are. Thanks for all of the replies so far

I went out this morning and took my door panel off, turns out the stock speakers are 4ohm. Now that I know this.. can I use the amp in the aftermarket head unit to power my speakers? Thanks
