H/U volume does not adjust amp??

I just installed my sub and amp. The volume on the amp can only be controlled by the amp. When I adjust the volume on the head unit it only adjust the speakers and not the sub. So when volume is at zero on the headunit the sub is still banging to the level set by the amp. Anyone know what the problem?

I have a clarion DXZ545mp headunit.

It has 4 RCA outputs. 2 green, 2 gray, 2 red, 2 black. The only way I got the sub to turn on is when I hooked the RCAs from the amp input to the Green RCA's on the headunit

Connect it to the sub out, or NF output...

I just tried to connect the RCA's to line out on the amp but now there is nothing. It only works when connected to the line in on the amp.

Is that what you were telling me to try and change. Sorry I am kind of Amplifier/RCA illiterate

No on the Head Unit side the Rca's need to be in the sub out or Non Fader pre out.

Always have it in the line in on the amp.

Triger thanks for helping me out.

I have tried all of the different combinations and it still will not fade the amplifier. Anyone know which color are the pre outs for this head unit so this will work.

what amp?

Is it possible you just have the gain cranked.

I figured the problem out. The green RCA's do not alow you to change the volume. I had to put the sub to the Black RCA's and turn the amp up a lot higher to get it to work.
