I have a 91 ford ranger, and I have had tried atleast three other head units in it but still the same problem occurs. The problem is when I turn on my headlights my cd player goes off for about five seconds then comes back on. I does it on high beam and low beam. Has anyone ever had this problem?

Nope, I dont think its the illumination wire. My cd player doesn't even have an illumination wire. My other cd player did have an illumination wire hooked up but I still had the same problem with it hooked up or not.

What he means is you hooked the ground (or power) to the factory illumination wire.

Reads ground when lights are off, +12 when lights are on

If it is the negative illumination wire (which fords have) it reads +12V with lights off and Ground with lights on.

EDIT: I would just try regrounding the deck to the frame...pretty sure there is some metal back there. If that doesn't fix it then find a new source for your Constant and ACC.
