what is a better alternative instead of paying a arm and a leg for a h.o. alternator?

And for people who have h.o. alternators have you had any problems with them?

Get the stock alt rewound. You are wasting time with any upgrade that doesn't increase alternator output. All the batteries in the world still need a source of current because they just store it.

the only thing is a big 3 upgrade. your system runs off the alternator so if it doesn't have the balls to run your system, then you need a larger one. no magical cure.

And no, nothing will substitute for a power generator.

And I dont see ~$300 as an arm and a leg when it can prevent damage to your amplifier and car's electronics (voltage drop = not good.)

is it a true fact that an HO alt can reduce your overall gas mileage and put more stress on your vehicle since its taking in much more than it should? *assuming all the parts and labor are properly installed*

Depending on the alt, the engine and the amount of current you demand from the alt you MIGHT lose a mile per gallon. If you have enough gear in the car that you NEED a HO alt, you are probably losing 3-4 mpg from the weight of the stuff and at that point, what's another mile.
