Car F'ed up?

Alright, so first off my alt. whines like a *****... I read a couple threads saying something about the RCAs and to just check for good grounds everywhere? I'm gonna make my dad check the grounds but what am I suppose to do with the RCAs? Then for the past 2 weeks or so my car wont start. It seems like the battery is dead but my lights come on(very dim) inside the car when I open the door. When I turn the key, it makes a strange sound that sounds like it coming from my tweets? Is this a battery problem, my alt dying, or what? Should I go out and pick up and optima or should I save up and get a ho alt? I'm currently running 2 rlps off a hifonics 1000d but am soon putting in another 100watts of power and new comps and tweets. Should I just take my car to autozone and have them run those free alt and battery test and see waht they say?

if your headlights or car lights still lit, battery is still fine but possibily dying sooner or later. its sounds more like an alternator issue. take it to autozone to get it checked and see what they have to say. if they cant replace it or repair it, then itd be a good investment into an HO alt then if you got the funds.

ps: id rather take it to an professional autoshop than autozone. maybe its just that all the autozone employees in my town are just a bunch of hoodlum high schoolers that need jobs and think their "mr know it all about cars" that show off their lightning audio subs during their breaks.
