Right now I participate in small bore rifle competitions and I'm looking to get into pistol competitions.

I need some suggestions for the most accurate pistols. I have never owned a pistol in my life so I'm looking for a small caliber that is pretty low maintenance. Basically a starter pistol with tight (2.5") groupings at 25-50 yards. Again, this is a starter pistol so keep price in mind, nothing too expensive.

my hk p2000 is ****ed accurate. isn't exactly cheap though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

glocks can be pretty accurate, especially with a really light trigger or skilled hands.

TOZ 35m (personal choice here)

Or

Morini 84E

or if you want something thats not a single shot, find a used IZH-35m, or pony up for a Morini CM22

But seriously, though, what kind of competition are you looking at getting into? There is a big difference between international free pistol and international rapid fire. What are you doing now in rifle and what equipment are you using? Or if you are looking to get started in IPSC, once again a big f'ing difference.

1911 platform , springfield, taurus, kimber, and several other manufacturers, looking at 500-1000 depending on which one and which upgrades..

glock 34 or other long slide variants .. 500-750 depending on new / used..

those are the most common in handgun competitions..

25m rapid fire. With a possibility of free pistol, however free pistol is a long distance for open sight so I am looking to start small with the rapid fire.

For rifle competition I do prone, kneeling, standing and sitting. That way I'm ready for whatever competitions roll through the area. Im currently using an Browning Buck Mark Target Rifle .22 cal rimfire.

In some circles yes, but there are more to competitions than center fire...

Hmmm, never see anyone doing 4p small-bore rifle before, everything is either 3p or international that I've shot. If you are looking to start in 25m rapid fire I'd look for a used IZH-35m, they aren't that expensive as far as target pistols go and are nice to shoot although the grips do take work to get them to fit right. The Morini CM22 is an awesome gun though if you got the cash.

If you are looking to start shooting international style pistol though, I'd recommend starting with 10m air, lot cheaper to shoot, easier to find matches, and easier to find places to train. Plus it is a lot easier to learn the fundamentals needed to play at the high level.

Be warned though, for any real match in international pistol you are looking to travel to Colorado Springs, Co to the Olympic Training Center or to Ft. Benning, GA to the AMU range where they have nationals. *Although USA Shooting is building a new range down in Kerrville, Tx, who knows when that'll be done though*.

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.
