i have a problem im puttin the XXX 6.5's in the rear deck of my 1996 nissan maxima and they dont fit the spider is too wide...wtf...what can i do to get these things in there? and what sort of 'pod' or box can i create for them to perform at their best in the spot theyre at?

cut the rear deck out? well i edited this to mean that cut the holes bigger... not to cut it right out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

anyone wanna make some fiberglass pods, i also need some for my rainbow slc 265's in the front? this is my first install and im not even close to ready to try fiberglassing

its either cut out the holes...make a pod...or buy something...any other ideas are definitely welcome thanks for the replies

why on earth are you putting them in your rear deck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

x2 on using them as rear-fill. Those are some nice speakers to have playing behind you.

If you want to put them back there you do have a couple of options, most of which have been mentioned.

1.) probably the easiest way is to cut the rear deck to allow the speaker to fit in the factory mounting location.

2.) make some mdf rings and elevate the speaker. This might raise it enough to not contact the rear deck.

3.) fiberglass some pods or a new rear deck. You might want to give it a try, read up on fiberglassing...its not too hard.

Good luck

you guys are retarted, they are midbass speakers, meant to go upfront along with a nice pair of tweeters. if you spent money on these to use as rearfill you made an expensive mistake my friend

i'd much rather have a good speaker for fill in the back than a cheap sh1tty one...the rainbow's are best for up front they are definitely a better sounding speaker than the XXX's are...

if fiberglass pods are gonna give me the best sound then fiberglass pods it is...sound quality is my number one thing

i hooked em up they sounded fine...i just need to get em in there...no point in debating about it cuz its all ive got to put in there...thanks for the input tho...and im gonna try fiberglassing the back speakers...is it ok for them to face more forward towards the drivers seat or does it mess with the angles the sound is traveling at? also im gonna try fiberglass front door pods unless someone knows of a better way for them to get in there sealed

i need my leg room im not a small guy and the leg room lost from a kick panel might be just too much...ill look into it though..i just feel it would be weird to not have something coming from behind me

do you feel weird when you go to a concert or show and not have anything behind you?

if you look at a frequency response cjhart for these speakers, you will see that they have some major breakup in the lower midrange. they are NOT MEANT for play above 3000 hz. if you do not have an active crossover - or a specific passive crossover for them, sound quality is not for you.

they are meant to play from ~60hz to ~3000hz - if not lower on the top end.

nothing else.

and NOT from behind you.

they are not subwoofers. they are not midrange speakers. they are MIDBASS speakers - meaning that they should be up front with your front speakers. the aim of "STEREO SOUND" aka: LEFT+RIGHT channel recordings aka: NON DOLBY DIGITAL music aka: 98% of music recorded by normal artists is to EMULATE A REAL CONCERT EXPIERENCE

that means the music should have a defined CENTER, LEFT, and RIGHT channel - that comes from IN FRONT OF THE LISTENER. ANY fill from the rear of the vehicle will pull the sound twoard the middle of the car and screw it all up.

THAT is sound quality. if you are not going for sound quality - do NOT claim you know what you are talking about.

if you put those speakers in your rear deck, and i ever meet you, id like to give you a swift kick in the nuts.

i am definitely going for sound quality...i want my rainbows and XXX's to perform at their best...and if putting them in the doors and the rainbows in kick panels is best then thats what ill do...y would they make such a big deal out of havin speakers in the rear of the car if what you said is the ideal way to gain the best sound?

thanks for the input...it seems like everytime i check this thread i change the way my setup will be
