Until we know his goals. Just giving equipment advice is irrelevant Like I said the sundown amp and sub , you'll be waiting 5-6 weeks or more before shipping if your son is wanting a sq system. Then you might want to consider a different sub Still no mention of a box and or what type for all that matters You will need 0 gauge wires those terminals are junk tho. And may cause issues later replacing stock speakers is a good idea. But if done right. Ie deaden and seal doors

I have a ZV4 18 and I love that sub. I agree with massive. I was running a CT2200 to mine and it ate it up without any problems. You are a cool dad for buying him all this gear.

I was at sams club a week or so ago they had duracell AGM's at a really good price. If you have a sams club card.

mylows is right, need goals. Don't forget you need a good box for that 18" and I imagine it's going to be quite large - yes, you have to get it custom built and I see that adding at least $200 to the final bill. What about the head unit? Does he already have one? If not, shoot for something decent with 4V pre-outs.

As far as installation, do the big 3 first, then install all the equipment. Play it and if the lights don't dim, you're fine for now. When that one batt, you can get an AGM battery. Btw, autozone has those a bit cheaper. It's a decent size car and may have a decent size alternator already - I recommend you find out how big.

I also recommend wiring for all the amps at once as it's easier and cheaper. You can do a 0awg run from the battery to the trunk (dist block) and then short runs of 4awg from there - one to each amp.

There's a good selection of good speakers at $200 and below that will be plenty loud and clear - CDT, JBL, Pioneer, B2, Polk, Infinity, etc.

Why Are u guys suggesting 4g wiring for a sundown 2000watt amp. I would run 0gauge to it. 4g is rather small.

Hello everyone, ive been looking into buying a complete car audio set up for my son and need a little input considering im not much of a car audio guy myself. But here's the delima, im buying him a Sundown zv4 18" subwoofer along with a SCV-1500D amp to power it. (He's always been a huge fan of sundown, and has been saving for this amp and sub)i was wondering what other components i need in order to get the best setup for him.

Do i need to upgrade "the big 3"?

Any recomendations on what to get?

Are there other components im missing in order to insure the best performance with this set up?

As i said im kind of clueless when it comes to car audio so i appreciate any help guys!

Every good system needs a good deck and it starts there also!! Personally I would go with an alpine cde149

Will also need some wire get some 1/0 or 2/0 welding wire, temco or royal excelene brand off eBay. That can be used for the big three upgrade. While you're on eBay grab some skyhigh car audio 1/0 Copper lugs.

Looking like im going to go with a duracell, rather go with the quality purchase and pay the extra little bit

The duracell is actually a cheaper batt..but alot better than the optima..i run 3 in my car
