Got my first tool set *PICS*

i broke a socket while pressing a pulley on one day, as a result the socket driver nailed me in the leg and it broke the skin pretty badly...i took it to sears that afternoon and they gave me a whole set of new sockets for the inconvenience...

I got one of them 268 piece craftsman tool boxes w/ the 4 drawer box and all. It works for me pretty good. I'd say the best invenstment i've got is them electric impact's. I got a craftsman 19.2v. And it kicks butt. But the makita 18v puts the craftsman in its place. IMO

All my handtools are Snapon and all the meters I use are Fluke. Snap On is very expensive but they are 100% top quality and so is fluke. Craftsman is also good just because of the lifetime warrenty.

So congradulations on your first quality tool set.

My first real tool set was a Craftsman. My mom bought it for me when we moved in to our new house, for putting together a few odd and end appliances and such. I still have most of the sockets, and pieces. A 10mm socket got stuck to a ratchet of mine, Sears gave me a new socket and ratchet.

I imagine snap-on has a lot better tolerances, and parts won't "stick" like that, but I too am a weekend warrior, or at best, a hobbyist who takes shit apart and can't get it back together. I don't need massively expensive tool sets.

I inherited my dad's tools when he passed. Anyone know how to get a Fluke meter working again? Mine won't turn on, and I replaced the battery. If the battery was a mistake, I won't tell anyone on the phone. It's a Fluke 77 Series II, I believe. Was a wicked nice meter when my dad used it. Right now I'm using some cheapo I bought at Lowe's to hold me over while working on my system.

Dewalt drills ftmfw. I ran over mine with two tires. Scuffed the hell out of the case, works like a champ. Bish has some wicked torque when I want it to.

I have a el cheapo set at home, but gets the job done for around the house, or I should say apartment, lol!

If I want some tools, I just go to my dads shop and get what I need and he has so many tools, that over the years he could probably bought close to a 100,000 dollar house, no lie! Snap on tools FTW, but price FTL!

Snap-on and mac are nice and all... but i have yet to meet a mechanic that isn't in the hole because of them. The one mechanic who I used to have do any major work on my car was something like 40,000 in the hole because of snapon... had something like $200,000 worth of mac and snapon shit. It was all nice and I loved useing his tools but just not woth it.

I'll stick with my crapsman for now...

i just bought a dewalt 18 volt tool pack at home depot for 600$. came with a circular saw, the cordless drill, sawzall, impact wrench, flesh light, and the little cordless vaccuum (actually works pretty good). i'm surprised that a cordless circular saw works as well as it does. the sawzall and drill from dewalt have always been pretty good. also came with 3 battery packs which is a definate ++++++

For socket sets, i have some of the old craftsmen stuff...like from the 60's and 70's...but if i lose one or need to replace for any reason, i buy Cobalt tools.

Relatively cheap, look nice, lifetime warranty, great performance. For power tools i use Hitachi, DeWalt, and Milwaukee.

I think craftsman is the shit.

but i believe in using whatever tool is best for the job. I have lots of craftsman general tools (wrenches, flatheads, etc) but i use whoever makes the best specialty tools (magnetic socket sets, ratcheting screwdrivers, etc)

I do need to go out and get some more isht though, after the first major major buy of tools im still missing some stuff (UNIBIT!)

This is true, Dad is on a payment plan and still owes like 12000 bucks just to snap on. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I am serious though, they could have bought close to a 100, 000 dollar house with all the tools he has bought over the years. Still the best around, but no thanks.
