okay......hit a few snags...
i got the end plate paint scanned at home depot....and the paint I got ended being more gray than it is black. I understand it isn't going to be perfect, but this wasnt even ****** close. I'll be going back tomorrow to try and get the color right. I thought about going with automotive paint from advanced dicount autoparts, but i figured most shades of black they carry will be glossy. The guy at home depot thought the finish on my spacer is more of a satin finish than a flat finish...wish it were the right **** color. If I dont get the results I want from home depot I'll try discount auto. I'm enraged that the paint I had scanned ended up being this far off. I'm not even going to post pics...its basically same as before but instead up shinny alluminum scratched they're all grey...
Secondly...I thought I could run 3 1/2 inch bolts across through the top of the spacers to connect to the amp. First I couldnt find any bolts that long in the 6-32 size it fits. So I got a 3ft rod of 6-32 and cut it down into sections of the size I need. I used acorn nuts countersync'd to regular nuts and CA glued into place together. I figured those would be a good enough end to screw the rods in with. Turns out the inside of the spacer that I thought the bolt/ rod would go through IS NOT threaded.....and in several attempted to have the rods forcefully thread that passage I broke the rods and or acorn nuts...I might have to abandon the inward turned end plates.
I'm sick of waiting and my schedule is really full....So tomorrow while I have my one day off and help fom a friend, I'm going to install and tune it the best I can (and finish the other misc renovations i listed earlier). Im pretty sure the mounting board I have will not fit with the end plates faceing out/normal....so there's another $10 for a new board //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
At least I'll still have a bitchin sweet amp w/ 2 spacers and awesome sound.....
