Welcome to the club buddy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif! If you don't mind me asking, is this the one from ebay?

Yeah I saw he ended the auction early so apparently you made him an offer he couldn't refuse //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif - congrats. Mine is in a little better condition but it does need to be touched up a bit and I was wondering if you would keep us posted with the paint you're going to use for the job. That black art spacer-amp-spacer combo will be //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/boink.gif.91933e72f927f2cefc79aff02573090c.gif! Kinda reminds me of the vrx audison amps and their cooling extensions... Nice

more or less what i'm going for....the board I had cut is off on the bottom my 1/8th inch....so... 1/16th inch of amp sticks out on each side...mehh....

the sides will have bolts in (not pictured), the left (cut) side of the mounting board will also be painted black, and I hope to try to touch up the paint this weekend. I'll try first on some small spots and see how they turn out befre going to town on this things....part of me is tempted to haver the entire flat front side (triangular face w/ the most scratches) sanded and repainted if the paint looks close enough to what it should....but we'll see what happens when the paint dries.

got the the chasis paint scanned.....i painted the scuffs and it turned out more grey than it did black //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

at least the white scrapes arent as noticable....just some grey spots here and there lol.

ill post pics tonight after work

Those spacers and end caps are super scarce. That's probably the best part of the package IMO.

Interested to see how well your restoration efforts come out. Lot of people re-finish old amps with varying results. I'm sure I've seen some come out really really clean.

I picked up a special amp the other day on eBay myself....one that I have been wanting to sleep with since it came out. I will of course start my own thread when it gets here.

okay......hit a few snags...

i got the end plate paint scanned at home depot....and the paint I got ended being more gray than it is black. I understand it isn't going to be perfect, but this wasnt even ****** close. I'll be going back tomorrow to try and get the color right. I thought about going with automotive paint from advanced dicount autoparts, but i figured most shades of black they carry will be glossy. The guy at home depot thought the finish on my spacer is more of a satin finish than a flat finish...wish it were the right **** color. If I dont get the results I want from home depot I'll try discount auto. I'm enraged that the paint I had scanned ended up being this far off. I'm not even going to post pics...its basically same as before but instead up shinny alluminum scratched they're all grey...

Secondly...I thought I could run 3 1/2 inch bolts across through the top of the spacers to connect to the amp. First I couldnt find any bolts that long in the 6-32 size it fits. So I got a 3ft rod of 6-32 and cut it down into sections of the size I need. I used acorn nuts countersync'd to regular nuts and CA glued into place together. I figured those would be a good enough end to screw the rods in with. Turns out the inside of the spacer that I thought the bolt/ rod would go through IS NOT threaded.....and in several attempted to have the rods forcefully thread that passage I broke the rods and or acorn nuts...I might have to abandon the inward turned end plates.

I'm sick of waiting and my schedule is really full....So tomorrow while I have my one day off and help fom a friend, I'm going to install and tune it the best I can (and finish the other misc renovations i listed earlier). Im pretty sure the mounting board I have will not fit with the end plates faceing out/normal....so there's another $10 for a new board //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

At least I'll still have a bitchin sweet amp w/ 2 spacers and awesome sound.....
