Got install but the tuning was bad

Alright i finally got to install my 9885 and pgrsd components and a kicker 350.2 at a local audio place and i had my XXX and kicker zx1500 already installed earlier (somewhere else). Anyways at first when i tested it out, it sounded great so i drove home bumping my system. They even made an amp wall/rack so that it looks nice. But when i got home i decided to look at how they tuned my amps and to my surprise they cranked the bass boost to the max on both amps. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Now isnt that the wrong thing to do??? Gain on both amps is at the half mark and x-over freq. was around 100~ or more.

So now i need help tuning everything...i turned the bass boost to zero and i dont have a DMM so i want to try and do it by ear first. Ive looked and read some threads about how to set the gains but im still pretty noobish to this. Does anyone else have these amps that could maybe help me figure out how to set it correctly or just anyone with a good starting point. I probably wont be able to do it right now but i will try it tomorrow. So anyone with any tips or advice please let me know.

yea turn the bass bosst off and re-set the gains with a dmm
yeah thats what i was thinking but i dont have a dmm at the moment and wanted to do it by ear first...but if its necessary then ill just go to radio shack or somewhere to get one.

ok i got DMM but every time i connect it to the amp i get real low settings..below 10 volts, why is that or am in the wrong settings? im using the AC voltage one and on the screen it has ~V. i just cant reach the desired volts...if i did the math correctly,1500 *2 = 54.77, correct? i got the dmm at radio shack and it wasnt too expensive..i think im kinda doing it right but it doesnt seem right..

#1: yes 54.77~ is correct

#2: make sure you are using vac on the dmm

#3: set eq's flat on the hu and anywhere else, and then test

#4: make sure the hu's volume is up

you can buy a dmm for about 30 bucks anywhere for now... try walmart
