So i got a 10" RE SX 2ohm and a hifonics brutus BXi1208D mono block in today and got it all hooked up. I decided to give the sub just 1000rms so i used my DMM to set the gain until it read ~31.6, the problem is that the gain is now turned up to about 95% and there is not much bass(compared to my alpine type-r 10" 2ohm). I got the bass boost up about half way but it sounds distorted.

honestly the RE isn't much better and i don't know why. I should hear a huge difference shouldn't I? Voltage at the battery when going stays at about 13v. Was i just expecting too much from this change or is something not right?

Old system: 10"alpine type-r 2 ohm, Memphis 500 watt mono block, 1.25cf tuned to 36hz

new sytem: RE SX 2ohm, hifonics 1200 watt monoblock, same box.

oh and my new mono block has 2 channel outputs, would it help if i wire each voice coil to both of them instead of having the sub itself wired in parallel?

^^^ i'm gonna try this tomorrow and hope nothing bad happens. i just don't understand why it is just a little better then 500watts(old system). If this don't work i'll just throw the old sytem back in until i get rid of the hifonics for a better amp and a second RE SX
