Bad install cause voltage drops?

Well I got my stuff installed at circuit city before I met this website. I now realize that was a big mistake.

Well my question is, could bad connections from my amp to my speakers be a problem with voltage drops? Or is this not very likely because it doesnt take a rocket scientist to connect a wire to a speaker correctly.

Basically what could they have royally messed up that I should check?

My cousin had a Kicker 850.2 running bridges @ 8 ohms to a Kicker 10" L5 and everytime his bass hit that amp would drop the Voltage down to 8.12v and that amp would keep on kicking.. I couldnt believe it.... anyways I looked at his ground and it was running to a bolt on the Cab floor well everytime the bass would hit I would see a light flash by the ground and I was like WTF so i pulled up the carpet and the **** bolt was glowing red and everytime the bass hit it would get brighter.... He was lucky we caught it in time....; So check your grounds

one kicker zx1000 ampone alpine 4 x 75 watt amp

2 sets of polk momos

I installed the sub, fi q 15"

voltage drops from around 14 to below 10
thats not all that much power for drops that low

check all your grounds and other connections to start

check your grounds and what is your alternator rated it. I had about 1000rms and my lights were dimming pretty good, wasnt that low on the drops, but still was low enough. Get a bigger front battery and do the big 3. Problem solve.

edit: So with the alpine added on that 1000 how much rms are you offically running?

chevy 99 silverado. 4 gauge on the 1000, 8 gauge on the alpine.
that truck should have a decent sized alt stock so you should not have a problem running what u have. I would of went 1/0 gauge on the 1000 watt amp. but i don't know if that would be enough to cause that problem. my friend is running 1600 RMS on his stock 98 silverados electrical.

hmmmmmmmmmm...... do the big 3 and see where it takes you. If that isnt good enough and your grounds are at the best possible location then get a back battery. Never hurts to have one
