Takes up more room, but I never have to figure out how to ship when its time

I once received and RE HC 15 (rather large subwoofer for those who remember) in a single ply corrugated cardboard box. That's it.
When I walked up to my house, I saw part of the motor bulging out of the box. Surprisingly enough. It was perfectly fine... not even damaged....

I have recieved a 12" RD HW in a box with no packing before. Thank god it was only shipped about 150 miles from me. It still had a bent basket when it got to me... And the member is highly regarded on the site
