Got a bullshit speeding ticket - What can i do?

Why would you fight when you were caught doing something illegal? Jesus fucking Christ, am I missing something here? Are people really this pissed when they get caught breaking the law that they need to "fight" it? Stop fucking speeding. Problem solved.

Ha my first speeding ticket was 93 on 65mph zone - I had a little VW Golf and I was doing 120+mph minutes before I got pulled over.

Went to court because it was mandatory, it was 3 counties away too. The judge and another guy said since I had a spotless driving record they reduced it to 6 points on the license and 170 dollar fine, and I didn't have to pay for court cost. I should of lost my license for awhile and got a much bigger fine.

Anytime you show up in court(mandatory or not) for traffic violations they'll ALWAYS reduce it.

Six points?? **** im Cali you get 3 before your license is revoked till your 21 if you under under 21..

There is a difference between cruising with the traffic on a freeway and "goin' with the flow" at 75-80 in a 65 with everyone else and gettin' pulled over, or driving down a secondary road where the speed limit is set at 30 and the road traffic can easily handle 45, and getting pulled over, versus what the OP did. There IS a difference.

You gotta understand that in 99.8% of cases, getting pulled over for speeding is a revenue based situation only. It has nothing to do with "public safety". Bro, that is a fact. For proof, almost all state legislatures have gone so far as to remove speeding as a criminal offense. When it was a criminal offense, the legal proof must be "beyond a reasonable doubt". Most, if not all, state legislatures have now changed speeding to a civil matter. This means the burden of proof is now "a preponderance of the evidence", which is the lowest burden of proof allowed in the legal system. This means that the cop practically just has to say you did it, and the judge will agree. It also means that no prosecutor is required, meaning the judge is now the judge, jury and prosecution.

Again, in this case it is pretty obvious, and the OP even admits he was going that fast. In a vast majority of cases, the cop has to determine your speed based on an electronic device. This means radar or laser typically. There are all sorts of precedent setting cases out there that clearly state that in order for such a determination of speed to be acceptable in a court of law, certain guidelines had to be followed and all documentation for the device, the patrol car, etc. has to match up and be available. In most cases it is not, because in most cases, morons like you just figure "Fuck it, I'll just pay the fine and move on". Thus the pattern continues.

I understand it's all for revenue and safety is at the bottom. As far as I can tell, most people who get caught had it coming, personal, relationships, and reading on here.

Yep, I've only had 1 speeding ticket and I knew I was guilty. I was doing 60 in a 40, I knew it, the officer knew it, why fight it? Dude wrote the wrong year on the court date line (it was near Jan. 1st) so maybe I could have gotten out of it, but like I said, I was guilty so I just paid the **** thing and shut up about it.

My dad got 95 mph ticket on 30 mph road lol. All he had to do is pay 350 bucks and things go back to normal. I am not kidding at all. He got nearly perfect driving record so that might have helped. Cop was pissed as hell though. It happened about 5 years ago when the 2004 F-150 was new in the family.
We lived in Indiana that time and I was 15 yrs old, not legally driving yet. I ordered a pizza after midnight my dad was not in the mood to drive out for me but no one else would so he took me. He darted down on a one lane backroad, usually no cops there but this time there was a cop coming from the opposite direction. My dad even braked to get the speed down, he was going over 100.

He knew he deserved the ticket lol. Thankfully, nothing else was affected.

do they have court supervision there? i got a ticket for careless driving and got on it. nothing goes on your record if you don't get any violations for 6 months. i had to go to a defensive driving class though.
