Got a bullshit speeding ticket - What can i do?

I got pulled over the other night around 1130pm for speeding. Heres what happened. I was on my way to pick up my gf from work and was behind a dude, riced out sunfire it looked like, hes doing about 40-45 so i go to pass him, soon as i get beside him and about pass him i let off the gas to pull over and he speeds up. So i nail it again to get past him quick because we were coming into a corner. By the time i had passed him and got infront, apparently i was doing 95, in a 55 zone. The cop was coming towards me about the time i had pulled back into my lane and slowing down.

I explained this to the cop but he was having none of it. This is my first ticket ever, and ive been driving for 5 years. Lawyer wants 325 to get out of it, and says he isnt sure if ill lose my license or my insurance will go up. Court costs are 185, plus ill get a fine and mandatory lose my license for 30 days, possible a year.

What can i do about this? Cop also was an *** pretty much, even though i was respectful towards him. Threatened to charge me for felony evading and wreckless endangerment because it took me a minute to fine a good place to pull over.

well, imo bend over and grab your ankles and take the court fees and the revocation of the license.

actually what i would do is go in there and plead a case saying that the ricer kept trying to run you off the road or he was swerving in and out of his lane and you felt like he was dangering you and your girl. you dont need a lawyer, your insurance still might go up but i doubt you will lose your license if you plead your case well enough

Why didn't you just back off and get behind him? Kind of no one to blame but yourself if you didn't take the safer route.

Ya wanna play, ya gotta pay. You're lucky you didnt get put in jail, a lot of states have a deal that more than 33 mph over the limit is auto jail( or something similar). There was nothing in the world stopping you from dropping back behind the guy.

Lesson:

Next time, have a car that can smoke a wussy *** rice burner before you play those games.

Nothing bullshit about it. You were speeding. **** it up, take the class, pay the ticket. Next time dont be billy badass and just slow down.

Ive played those games with rice burners before, they just act like assholes when they see a "muscle car" try to pass them. My issue was i had slowed down and was about to merge back over and he sped up and got beside me. I know if i had hit the brakes i wouldve merged and hit the guy behind me either that or he wouldve hit the brakes too. I was just trying to haul *** and get past him due to the corner coming up.

That doesn't sound like a bullshit ticket at all...you shouldn't have to go over the speed limit when passing someone, so if you do, it's still speeding. Doesn't matter what the other guy was doing, you did the crime, now put on your big boy pants and pay the ticket.

Honestly, I hate it when people pass me just before they have a turn coming up. Yes, Im sure you'll say this 'race' went on longer than expected, but clearly your turn wasn't very far away when you pulled out to pass. It sounds to me like you wanted to show up this ricer.

What kind of muscle car were you driving?

This really is a no brainer. There's 3 or 4 reasons you could have, and even should have, avoided this situation, even if it did go down exactly how you say it did. Take responsibility here. Next time you'll better understand the stakes when you get yourself into one of these situations.
