Good Setup for one 12" Alpine Type-r?

I've decided on the Alpine MRP-M500 for the amplifier. I think this should be sufficient, but I still would like your guys' input on this.

I've been really stressing on the box though. I'm trying to find the perfect fit for this box. I definitely want this box to be ported. I saw these and I want to either have someone build me a replica or build one myself IF IT'S THE PERFECT BOX.

So i'm really confused, please help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm taking my time and doing my research, so no hurry. I don't wanna buy the wrong product or have a system that isn't running to it's potential.

Bro you've got to get a box made from someone on here. DO NOT BUY A PREFAB BOX. Let someone make you one built just to specs for the type R and if you want ported, it'll be ported. I wish I knew someone right off hand, I'm new to this forum so not really sure, all I know is there's all kinds of peps that advertise their box making. I'll ask a few people and see if they know of any, I know ones already been mentioned on here.

Prefab ported boxes are garbage. I agree with having someone build you one if you do not feel comfortable doing it yourself. Prefab boxes are rarely ever designed for a specific speaker, which means they are not tuned correctly, most likely do not have proper air volume inside of them, and many times are made of cheap materials(ie. 1/2" mdf vs 3/4"+), often times they are not sealed well and create noises due to their leakiness. A quality enclosure will make or break the quality of the sound. My .02

Thanks for the information guys. I'm wondering if the third link I put in my post is worth anything though. Here's the link to the thread. It's like the 5th post or something with the picture of the box. Let me know what you think. This is for a swr-1242d.

By the way, I'm having a hard time finding these users you guys are recommending me to pm. Can anyone help me?

EDIT: NVM found it

I also didn't know what ProjectPechkin meant by prefab box else I wouldn't have posted that. Not tryin to be ignorant here :/

Thanks for the offer, really, but I would rather stick with an all alpine setup. Makes me feel good inside //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I'm still questioned about the box. I want this to be PERFECT, I really do. I don't want there to be half an inch extra on this box where there shouldn't be. I read up on the SEALED vs PORTED thread in the enclosure forum and it saying that sealed is for sound quality and ported is for power. I have a friend who i talk to about this stuff all the time and he has told me that the type r's don't last long in a sealed box and ontop of that sound better in a ported box. I never asked him how better; sound quality or db. I'm into quality but at the same time I don't want my sub dying after 6 months. I'm not like the audio guru's on here that shell out over 5 bills frequently, I want this to last. Anyone have any recommendations on the specs of the box that should be built? which reminds me, I have read a lot that I shouldn't go with the enclosure specs that alpine gives because that is for minimal space. So from the experienced type r 12" users, can you please help me out on this one? I'd greatly appreciate it. Sorry for the long read //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

alright i see ur in ohio. im pretty sure there are like 2 or 3 box builders from ohio that would build u a box. and as for the box. id do around 2-2.5 cubes tuned around 32hz. i have 2 type Rs 12s in a 4.0 cubes box tuned to 33hz and they get loud. let me see if i can remember any of there screen names.

Thanks so much. I'll look into them. Can you give me some more detail about the specs? Like an number between the 2.0-2.5? you might have a reason for giving me the variation, i don't know. If you can please explain.

i gave that because that's what i had suggest to me when i asked the same question. lol. but ya i think you would be happy with 2.0 cubes after sub and port displacement. but im sure if u get someone to build u a box they will have a suggestion for the exact specs.
