good idea for big wire ring teminals

When I SEARCHED for a good way to crimp 1/0 ring terminals. THIS WAS MY RESULT.

So anyone have a better idea?

If you have an interstate battery shop near you, you can take your wire over to them and they will crimp on or hypress the connections on even heat shrink the ends. I got 8 connections made for $6 thats for fittings heat shrink and a professional crimp job. the advantage of using a hypress is that the crimp is stronger than the wire.

Thanks dude, I am sure I have a place nearby that will do that, I think it is worth the 6 bucks for sure.

Yeah, I thought about just taking a big flat head and a hammer and making a good punch in it.

I already wasted one ring term (probably could fix it) using a pair of kleins, this is my first time even holding 1/0, that's right, my 0g cherry got popped today //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

no hammers are no good they dont put even pressure on both sides of the crimp which makes them more likely to fall off not t0 mention they make for a poor electrical connection. if you wanna dish out about $400 you can buy a hypress

or take your wire somewhere that has the means to do it properly. At least your local audio shop should have a way to crimp large wire.

haha no i don't think i can justify investing 400 dollars into a hypress...

It seems like there should be a easier way. But I am up for spending 5 bucks to get it crimped..i mean what's 5 bucks in the big scheme of things?

no vice? i have used a regular clamp, with a T handle, and clamped down on a pair of pliers that were on the crimp. that works pretty well. then i like to solder the ends just for a little extra.

how do you figure that isn't a good connection?

All 6 SPL cars we've done have had hammered connections without a single failure

You can do the same thing with the smaller couplings for smaller wire.

There's nothing actually holding the connector or other than friction. You at least need to dimple the terminal with a prick punch.
