Ok so i have my 18" MT in my comp box right now which is 5.5^3 at 49hz. Just trying to get some ideas on tuning and size for a nice DD box, because listening to this MT in my Comp box is getting rediculous lol. So if you guys could start throwing some ideas my way, would be much appreciated //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif .

Well when i do bump its only for maybe 10 seconds at the most, i usually only "bump" when someone wants to hear how loud it gets ^_^.

Personally, for impressive daily wangage...

I would do 8cubes NET (after all port and driver displacements) tuned to 33hz, with 100 sq. in. of port...

Would be quite sickening. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have plenty of room ...... the thing is i just wouldnt want a **** 8 ^ 3 box in the back, because 5.5 is big enough lol. Really i just want a box that hits those lows pretty hard if you know what i mean //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif. The box i have it in now gets incredibly loud.....but only in the higher notes. So if anyone has any ideas feel free to throw them my way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif.

Well you answered the question we all had: Do you want it to get louder but at lower frequencies. You answered no, because you don't want to go with a larger box . For what you are asking for, you should simply go to your local fabrics superstore. Joann Fabricks, Hancock Fabrics, Michaels, etc. etc. and go to the block foam section. It is used for seat cushions and the like. Buy a block that is about 1/2" wider than your port and just as long and about 1/2 the height of your port. If it comes larger, just cut it to that. That sized chunk, stuffed into the vent to block off half of the vent will tune you roughly 10Hz lower. If you stuff 3/4 of your vent, you'll tune to whale flatulence frequencies. These are all at the expense of overall output...and I don't mean dB on the dash either. To your ears, spine and nutts, less kick, but it'll drop.

what # are you putting up on the mic with that current box?

8 cubes is WAY too big for an mt 18 unless your only using like 1000 watts.....sorry

for daily setups for 18s we usually use 4/4.5 cubes around 80 sq inches of port and tune to mid 30s.

going with a huge box you'll end up over excurting the sub with any power.

I have mine in around 7.5 cubes tuned in the mid 30's and its is nasty with music.

I am going to try a bigger box and a smaller box and I will let you know my results.

**** hows ur orion liking that .7 ohm? I was thinkin about running it at .35 for comps but decided to just run it at 1 ohm.

It loves it. It is so much louder then my (2) JBL 1200.1s on this sub. I just got it all in together yesterday but so far it has been insane.

Werd.

I did ~7.5 tuned to 33 w/ 90" port for my 18" and with about 2500w it was naaaasty.

Ya so far ive been really impressed with the amp myself, throws plenty of power to my 18" MT, although i wouldnt mind investing in another one and running each voice coil for burps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif.
