Good Component Set Recs?

I have a 1979 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible, and am looking to start putting a system in it. After my last experience with a system, I found that even though I really like just bumping bass, i'd like to invest in a component set this time around.

I was looking for some suggestions on some decent component sets, which would include a speaker in my doors, a speaker in my front kick panels, and tweeters mounted up near the windshield somewhere.

i would also appreciate it if you could supply me with a suggested amp(s) setup to power these component sets...

Although price is not a big deal, i wouldn't like to spend more than a couple hundred in this particular aspect of the system.

300 ish for the component set, and then i'll power them appropriately.

$300 is gonna be tight for a 3 way component set but you could go with some diy drivers and active xover.

edit: might look into the dls reference 6.3 or cdt cl-642 sets if you are set on 3 way.

well it turns out a pair of 8'' subs is going to be much less expensive than i had though, so how about just giving some suggestions an a few good 3 way component sets?

If I were you, I'd get an MB Quart RCE 213, and get the RCE 164 add-a-woofer. That would be awesome.

What he was talking about was getting a component set (two mids, two tweets, two x-overs) and then getting the add-on woofer to make it a 3-way set. The RWE-165 is the additional woofer.

Do some more research, there are more manufacturers that have better options. Check out Rainbow at www.speedsound.com for example.

PM 6spdcoupe about rainbow SLC's that are in the mid 200's, he's a dealer. then search the forums for "rainbow"

Run 2 way comps in the kicks and dash and add a 7" or 8" woofer in the doors to make it three way. Check out the Dayton rs series thier 4 ohm though. Ive heard they sound awesome.
