IMO opinion if something does not do what is says its false advertising, makes it bad IMO. A lot of people lost respect for ZED after those amps where released. Why would he even put his name on them. They are cheap now cause they are just for collectors, knowbody actually uses them.Your comparison dont mean much considering they are in the same price point.

I was just using that as an example, not considering price. Please tell me how the "rating" effects actual performance of the amplifier at all.

Its not just about the amp man. its about supporting companies like that. Helping them grow to supply even more.

Once again ill ask. How is that a good deal when it showed it has a very high potential to do more harm then good?

the only way i see a good deal is if i have just a daily driver and i only need 1k rms or less. if i had one i wouldnt try to push it harder then 1k because i know how the amps are. but even for 1k rms, $125 is still cheap compared to other 1k amps. i myself would probly buy a MB quart 1k or PPI 1k amp before a apsm they are only like 25 or so more dollars then apsm's and they do clean rated power.

im not really trying to defend them. lol... like i said, i dont use them. i wont say i never will if i need a quick replacement sometime. but again i would probly go with a mb quart or ppi or something.

So you dont see how this garbage has runned anything? Not everybody knows what they really do. Just look at CL, does that not make you a bit ashamed to do what we do? Thats how the general population sees us. They dont see the talent and science that goes into it

I'm not ashamed of my hobby because I'm not seeking anyone's approval. And it's not the marketing department of companies ruining the industry. You can thank the irresponsible retards, that go around disturbing the piece with their nasty setups, for giving your hobby a bad image.
Are you mad at the garbage being made today, or the marketing department for being able to make it seem so appealing, or the people who don't bother to pick up a book and educate themselves enough to make better choices when buying gear?

Cool beans, I'll have to take back my Idiocracy comment then. I just hate to see another old-schooler get so worked up over things but I do see the point. The root of it all is poor application of poor education, even with great gear. I've heard some big money setups that sound just horrible and the owner has no clue. Just have to nod and say good job, then let them hear your setup, and hope they hear a difference and want to learn what it is and how to get it.

Those made by ZED amps where grossly overrated. So yes they are still bad.

They still are quite good. We had a number of people swap out their higher ratted new Asian built amp for a much lower ratted (even with BOSS' inflated ratings) and they preferred the sound and output. The ESX, Planet Audio and US Acoustics (USA series) are all still in high demand because they just flat out work. I have enough from the early 90's that have seen plenty of use over the years and have long outlasted so many of these newer super cheaply built amplifiers being released today where the failure rate is much higher.

 

Much of that is a business decision, as many of these lower-level brands can make more money on mass quantities with lesser quality parts, playing the numbers of hoping not too many will fail, and those that do, it is cheaper just to swap out then repair. This is the same in many other industries, one most recent to me are computer monitors.
