Good amps?

Hey guys,

I have a JL Audio 12w6v2 with a Kenwood KAC-9104D amp at the moment, but I have been told by a lot of people that my amp is not that great and in other cases *****!!! I really don't want to spend over $250. I bought this amp at best buy last November for $300 which I realized was a huge mistake because its like $160 on amazon, thanks for your mark up best buy.

I was just wondering if their is any better amps out their in my price range for my sub?

the sub is rated at 600 watts rms. that amp may not be the greatest, but it is putting out over 600 watts.

u can upgrade the amp to a larger amp, for future upgrades, but the amp is fine.

i run an aq1200 which is nice

but u could run the mb quart discus 1200

ap 1500d which are both cheaper

That amp is just fine for that sub. What's more, you already have it. No point in spending more money for no effect.

no, actually its not...you likely do not understand CEA ratings. That only pertains to 4ohm, and even then, THD does not matter. There was a bench test on that particular amp that I saw, and while it did do rated at 4 ohm (I believe it did 504), it only did 600 @ 2ohm..so that amp is no where near its 2ohm rating, even at impedence, let alone after rise and such....

That said, it is only a 600 rms sub, and while it can handle more, you will not see much gain, nor will you likely even notice it by sending it 100 or so more watts..Stick with that amp, unless you can sell it for a decent price

well i may be upgrading to another w6 in the future and my amp would not be able to power both at reasonable power. If i do get another w6 in the future should i get the 2000d or 2500d hifonics. I rather sell my amp now and get something for it than sell for change in the future.

Those subs don't need nearly that kind of power. Depending on the box, they actually will reach their excursion limits before they reach their thermal limits. A good kW would be plenty for the pair.

well i have made my decision, i want a new amp. If i was to upgrade to another w6 in the future, would it be better to go with the 2000d or 2500d hifonic amp? The price is just perfect for what you get

I'm running Hifonics amps in two cars, they rock for the price, good sound (see great sound) and they make the power they claim, reliable, what more can we say?
