Good 10's For A Sealed Box??

Ive been running an RE SX12 for a few years now(the good ones,not the new ****** ones) in a ported box. While I do like it I want to change things up a bit and do a sealed box with 2 10's. I like nice tight,clean bass. I dont listen to rap or hip hop so super loud bass isnt what Im looking for. This thing turned up will rattle your fillings loose. BTW Im using an Image Dynamics 1200.1 for power.

Can some one recommend me some subs that will sound good in a sealed box? So far Im leaning towards the new Type R's. If you have some thing that will work and want to trade,let me know....

Hands down, may not be able to take the power you have, but that's not necessary for what you want from what I can tell.

I did a little research on the SSA's and from what I was reading they dont do so well sealed. They seem like a very nice sub in a ported box...

Model them up... Almost every sealed 10 will have a predicted F3 response in the 50 to 60+ Hz range. If you are dealing with a car that peaks in the 50 to 60 Hz range, you'll more than likely have a cabin gain profile that drops like a rock below that frequency. My point? You won't just have tight bass, you will have NO BASS whatsoever below the modeled F3 response.

Jim Walter of Alpine mentioned on DIYMA that the new Type-S was geared towards more SQ, while the type-r more towards SPL, although both can be classified as SQL subs. The new underhung Alpine Type-S looks good in a sealed box. Qtc is just a change above 0.8 in 0.5cubes. Add some polyfill, and qtc will be in 0.7-0.8 range, which is perfect. If space is not an issue try 0.75 cubes per sub. The 2012 model handles 500watts of power with 15mm xmax. Sonicelectronix has some right now for under $100 shipped. Great value IMO. The 8 inch Type-R (very different from other size models) is also considered a fine SQ subwoofer, but the best mode of application is a small ported box (0.5-0.7cubes per sub), tuned in low to mid 30s.

I was looking at these after I posted this. They seem to get great reviews and would work perfect with my amp. I can get these at Sonic Electronix for 85.00 each.

i would go with an Alpine Type-S, i've noticed that they sound good in both ported and sealed boxes, obviously louder in a ported box though. Type-R's are good as well

If you can afford it, Dayton makes some of the best sounding subwoofers out there for the price. I love my 15" Titanic.

Ive had really good results with infinity perfect 10 sealed in my cousins truck. i see them on here used now and then.

I've never liked Type Rs in sealed boxes, but that's just an opinion. I'd look into SSA.
