Going To Wax Car Tomorrow - Need help!

Alright, I plan on waxing my car tomorrow. I did it last week, and we had a big storm and it seemed to rinse all the wax off? I did it kind of half ***'ed, with some spray turtle wax from wal-mart and just some rags at my house.

This time, I want to do it right.

- So what wax do you recommend?

- Does it matter what type of rags I use? (my car already has a quite a few scratches on it, so I dont care about micro scratces)

- Basically, how do I wax? Like what is the process?

Thanks

Any good paste wax. Wax application pads and rags. If you try to do the whole car all at once you'll miss spots and leave residue. Do it a panel at a time, applying and removing as you go and you'll get a more thorough wax job. And residue on some waxes won't be there when you're done but may show up in a day or two so when you finish go back over the car and rub it all down again even if you can't see any thing.

Here's what 2 coats of Zaino looks like on my ride

i do the meguiers 3 step. but then use the NXT tech wax instead of the wax from the 3 step.
I agree, Meguiars Deep Crystal 3 step is the shit. Perfect for the average guy, its cheap, you can get it at most auto stores, and it does an amazing job.

Stage 1 gets out the big scratches, Stage 2 rubs out the fine scratches and swirls, and Stage 3 is a carnuba wax which serves as a protective layer.

Using NXT Tech Wax instead of the 3rd stage is a good idea during the winter months. It is technically a paint sealer and it holds up to the elements much better than carnuba wax. The downside is that paint sealer isn't as deep and shiny as carnuba wax, but it still does a very nice job. You can always do a couple coats of carnuba was over top of it to give it the "ultimate finish".

If you're just getting in to buffing/polishing I recommend ******* it up and purchasing a decent dual-action polisher. Its going to save you time, and produce MUCH nicer results. They're pretty idiot-proof, and very forgiving when it comes to polishing 'newbz' haha. Check out the Porter Cable 7424, its a good little polisher for the price.
