Going to need another amp, but which one should I replace?

Here is my situation that I would like some advice on. I have 2 eclipse 15" titanium subs, they are dvc reading right at 3 ohms a coil. My son has a 12" eclipse aluminum, dvc 2ohm. I have 2 eclipse da7232 amps. Right now I put one in his truck to power his 12. My question is this Should I

A: Get a different amp to power his sub, the da7232 might be a little overkill.

B: Leave the da7232 on his, sell my other and get something else for my 15's, maybe in the 7-8kw range?

C: try and find another da7232? It is rated for 2000x2 @ 2 ohm max so with both hooked to mine it should be pushing and easy 6kw, and maybe over 8?

If you are going to suggest amps to me I would like to buy used so I would like suggestions of amps that come up used fairly often.

DA7232 specs

max power output 2000 x 2ch

output power 2 ohm 1000w x 2ch

4 ohm 500w x 2ch

thd @ rated power 2 ohm .007

4 ohm .005

signal to noise ratio (A-weighted 4 ohm) 120db

I love those amps, but not really in your case. For your son it is a bit "over kill" and for you it is a little less then I would want to use actually.

I would be looking on your setup (assuming they are just TI's and not Pro's) I would be looking for a good real 2.5k-3k for your setup. That amp you now would work just fine though if you want to use it and would offer some great results. Your son though could use a smaller amp then what you have.

Thanks @pro\-rabbit; Ya unfortunately my ti's are just the standard not the pros : ( My theory is with the 3 ohm voice coils and using the 2 da7232's I would be running right at 750 watts to each coil, since they are rated at 1000 @ 2 or 500 @ 4, am I thinking right. I suppose having a mono amp to wire all 4 coils into would be better that 4 separate channels. About what size of amp would you recommend for his 12"?

Yea, for your setup I wold pick up a nice mono amp and run with it. I ran 2 12s on a 2200D and loved it. I could have increased the power if I wanted with no issues actually.

As for the 12" setup, I would try and stick around 800rms. If you want to only sell one amp and run it on his setup you can, but you will need to set the gain to keep the sub from destroying itself lol.

Just run one sub per channel as that is actually two amps in one.
Ya basically it is two amps in one. Each amp is 2 channels and I have 2 of them, so four total channels. The rating I gave are per channel.

I would wire it up with one sub per channel.

So you would wire 2 coils(sub) to each side of the amp allowing them to see around 900rms each.

That leaves one amp that can be put in your son's car if you limit the output but to be honest I would get something all together for his application.

Why(can't seem to make it this question not sound confrontational but it isn't)? Doesn't seem like enough power, don,t we always "need more power Scotty"?

I have the gains set pretty low on it now. What would be a good option to put in his? Maybe a warhorse[sarc]?

LOL, Honestly for your setup I would look into a nice 2-3k mono amp which would put in some good work on your setup.

With your son's setup, I would look into something like a good 1200 mono block.

If it was me though, I would have a hard time selling off the amps as I collect far to many lol.

That is the problem, they are sweet *** amps and I couldn't get crap for them if I sold them, so I really would like to use both in mine. Wish they could be modded so they could be bridged, or strapped would be awesome.

LOL

Their value dropped considerably over the past few years for some reason. If you ever need designs or enclosures and want to do some swapping though hahaha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Someone keeps posting one on ebay for $400 starting and $500 buy it know, and it hasn't sold. Always thought if I could come up with a third ti I would pick it up to run it off of. I also have 2 eclipse 34230 to run my components off of.
