GM/Chevy people come here - electrical question.

I need to replace the alts on my car, think delco 10si model alts are on there now, 5 1/2" case. I wanna try and replace with the newer camaro 12 or 17si model to get better output. Either that or a CS144 model alt, not sure if that will fit though. Someone here has to be more familiar with them than i am. I know theres a conversion kit for the cs144 harness, just not sure if itll fit on my mount.

the cs144 has many front case options . You would just have to find one that would fit in the space you need it fit in.

Can you take a pic of curennt alt and how it is mounted.

you could try taking yours to an auto parts store and check out the ones you want to try and see how they match up. you will have to ignore the badgering of the people working there saying it wont work though they think that their computers is god and if it doesnt say so it just cant be

Well, i know for a fact it will work with the electrical setup, as they sell conversion plug and play harnesses, its the mount im worried about. Ill have to measure the bolt spacing and get a pic of how 1 of mine is mounted. 2nd alt is a universal 1 wire.

thats what im saying get the specs for yours then go check out the others they will let you look at them or atleast they should

Yeah you get the measurement from center to center of each mounting bolt I will go measure my CS144.

Can you not get one from someone rebuilt with like 250amps in a stock case? I have a chevy but it's a 2500 diesel so it's a lot easier then a car..

It seems to make more sense to to put 1 big one or 2 big ones then 2 80a ones to me, but if they don't make them I guess you have to do what you have to do.. LoL
