Getting through the firewall?

Hey all, I am about to install my first sub and amp setup into a 2003 Dodge Stratus. My question is, has anyone dealt with finding the grommets(I think that is what they are called) in this car to get through the firewall? Are there any underneath the drivers side dash? I just want to know so that I can get this part of the job done as quickly as possible. Thank you.

Pm

i'm sure there are. wire a car is just like a woman... just reach around there and you'll find a good hole eventually //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

look in the fire wall for a rubber cirle and sometime's u should be able to see a slight opening if not see if you can poke through the grommet sometimes to get the wire in here's a good test for ya. take a coat hang bend it to as straight as it can be then take the end of the wire and tape it to the end of the coathanger that way you can feed it through if it stop's well kinda obvious u know you can't go through but if you pull up the carpet a lil bit on the inside of the cars it's usually by the steering column , or break booster.

Getting a metal screw off antenna works very well for getting cable through grommets. take a grinder and sharpen on end and just look on the inside and poke it through any rubber grommet(closer to the battery is best) and then look for it under the hood. Then tape the cable to the end under the hood, and pull it through the cabin like said above.

i couldnt find one in my 04 sebring (identical to a stratus). that car was a ***** to wire. Not sure about yours, but my battery is in the front bumper cover under the head light assembly, didnt have a hard time wiring up to the fuse block, but had to come back down drill through the firewall behind the plastic splash guard. ill see what i have for pictures. if you take the front tire off and dont mind working in there you got about a square foot of space to drill, from the inside i removed a plastice rest for your left foot (where there would normally be a clutch) and had my wire come in behind that, which gave me probably 2 inches of clearence to bend the wire under it so there wasnt a bulge in the carpet.

where did you get those rubber grommets?
I am about to run my first run of 1/0 and need to drill a hole for it.
i dont remember im a pack rat i save any little thing like that i come across, if i pick up one or two here from a shop or something. i bought a bulk assorted sized pack once. i think the ones i used on this car were actually a plastic ring that had a snap in fit. How many you need I can look around and see what I got. pm me though i might lose this thread i wont be on a whole lot this weekend

Bring a piece of the wire with you if you're going cheap. Otherwise order the right one with a compression fit and a water tight seal from Darvex.
Or just find the factory loom and run it through the empty spac in that grommet. There should be plenty of room.
Sorry bastards. the guys who did my last install work for me that is. Little SOB just pushed the power wire around (not through) the factory grommet. Fortunately I noticed this before we had a rain. I took it back -- showed the hguy who wons the place what his guy did -- so he shows another installer -- who in turn gets on the first installer's ***. Then the second installer drills a hole for the wire -- but later I notice that he used no grommet whatsoever. F'ing assholes.
