yup ---radio shack----how many RCA channels do you run to the noise making amp?Originally posted by blaupunk Yea, i just have a Hu and an amp. and can i get a pair of gender connectors at radio shack or something? If i get some, ill try doing that
Thanks
If the wire is thick enough and properly secured to chasiss, there should be plenty of room for the h/u ground.Originally posted by chris229 basicly -----if you put the HU ground in the path of alot of current ----that point isn't really a ground any more
did you put it on a isolated supply--battery or 12v inverter???? you have to--- you want to see if the amp shuts up then continue getting the noise out of the system.. Best to ground closer to the HU BUT really it's the amps cheap power supply. WIth a well made power supply you would have to worry about where to ground. you should buy some good ground loop isolators to help with the noise Explain again how to find a ground wiht no noise, i didn't understand exactly the first time, thanks once again do you have an old tape player walk man? you need the tape head out of it. you use the tape head and wire it to an RCA plug. This is your noise listening device. plug it into an ISOLATED amp or selfpowered speaker. listen for the noise. Find a unnoisy area and try that as a groundOriginally posted by blaupunk I think it is my ground, as i moved it to a different location and the noise reduced, but it is still there.
yup-plus buy ground loop isolatorsOriginally posted by blaupunk I hooked up an external batter to my amp, and the noise is gone. So does that mean i have to find a better ground? im not sure, let me know, thanks
rip out the HEAD and wire one one wire to the center pin of the RCA and the other to the outer shield.----------------simple
P.S. how do you hook up rcas to the head of the walkman?
unplug the RCA cables if you hear a noise when on the power supply-----is the noise there?? if not continue with the ground loop isolators and finding a ground near or at the HU groundOriginally posted by blaupunk Sorry, I was wrong, i thought the noise was gone but i put my ear really close to the sub and could still hear a small whining coming from it, even with the external battery hooked up to it. This is driving me insane. What to do
P.S. SHould i ground the amp to the external battery? (from the terminal on the amp to the terminal on the -- of the battery?)
