Getting ready for a new build

Whats up everyone!

I wanna put 6 10s sealed in my Mazda CX9.

I decided to go with the JL 10W3's

Should i go with all 6 on one amp or split em between two amps or three amps?

They are SVC's in 2 or 4ohms.

What would be the right way to do this. And what amp/amps would work best for this?

Thx in advance bassheads!

you would need 2000-3000w to get full potential for the 6 10w3's sealed compared to 1500-2000w for the 4 12w3's sealed. Think about getting a h/o alternator and extra batts if you're gonna run alot of power.

I was thinking about 400watts to each driver. Thats 2400 watts total. Ill look into an alternator upgrade. But how the heck would i wire these drivers to one amp? Not sure if I should grab the 2ohm or 4ohm versions. ???

Ive ran ported before. But sealed is so much better for SQ. I understand the efficiency goes down but the quality is there. Nam sayin?

Plus ported needs way more ft^3
SQ is based on transient response and what type of response that you like. You can't say that there's one setup that will sound better than everyone else because it's all subjective. If you didn't know, ported boxes actually have less distortion than sealed because the cone isn't moving as much on a ported box. The ported boxes you've heard were probably built really crappy or was prefab box. It takes alot more precision to get the sound you want from a ported box but it comes with its own rewards. Sealed boxes are trapped of any air outside so it tends to overheat easier. another thing is ported boxes have peaks which is basically free output at that specific frequency. If you want a perfectly flat sound similar to a sealed box, it can be done. If the sealed boxes are too small, it can be very peaky as well up top. 10's are usually more punchy than a 12 especially in a sealed box. If you like the lows that alot of rap songs have, then ported is the only way to go. It's your choice though, I can still dig a sealed box setup. It will just cost more to get the loudness you want from 6 10's.

The top sound quality car runs ported. If you think sealed is better you never heard a good ported SQ box. And with 6 10s your expecting SQ? If so you don't want SQ you want loud.

I've ran 2 12' SSA Icons ported in the past. They sounded great. Enclosure designed by RAM Designz.

I'm looking for that sealed sound. And I want 6 10s! LOL. Please just help me wire these mama jamas.

If I do 4 4ohm 10s wired to 1 ohm then that leaves me with the other 2 2ohm 10s wired to 1 ohm. Will this effect the sound? The different driver ohmage? Shouldnt they all match?

thx!

They would not match if you try to hook it up that way. It's either you use 2 amps with 4 ohms drivers running 1.33 ohms for each or you could use 3 amps with 4 ohms drivers running 1.34 ohms for each. try getting 2 1200w amps or 3 800-1000w amps..

May I ask what size enclosure will each sub get? If you're really looking for sq then you need bigger sealed boxes, not small ones. Atleast 1 cu ft per sub would be ideal I would say. The bigger the sealed box, the flatter the response.. Less peaky and more emphasis on low end extension

Yeah I'm gonna go with 6 4ohm 10s. 3 to each amp. Looking at the sundown sae1200s right now. For box size I think 1ft^3 to each driver. I've been doing a lot of diggin and this is the best way to go.

Thx for all your help blazian 87
