Getting my first system, are these good?

This is the stuff I've picked out after reading up on things a little. Since this is my first system I didn't really want to go to expensive. And I still have to get a stereo and my budget is about $340....including stereo. Any advice or information would be gladly appreciated. Thanks. Also I'm just looking to get some good bass...not going for the extreme loudness.

Amp:

Amazon.com: Hifonics HFi100.2 HFi Series A/B Stereo Amplifier 2 x 100 @ 4 OHMS, 2 x 200 @ 2 OHMS, 1 x 400 @ 4 OHMS:…

That's weak stuff, man. You can't get good bass with that. If you want something that bumps fairly loud and fairly clean, just one dual coil 12" Kicker CVR with at least 400W RMS at 2 ohm in a sealed 1.0 cu. ft. enclosure will make your inner ears itchy if you want it too, for not too much money. Don't skimp on this stuff, or you'll regret it. It won't sound loud or clean enough, and you will have to spend more money in the long run to be able to feel satisfied. Trust me. I've been young and broke. Ten years ago, all I could afford was $20 Pyramid subs and $30 Legacy or Pyramid amps that pushed "200" watts. I have tried all the cheap stuff and it never sounds good. Sparkomatic, Nippon America, Optimus, Roadmaster, Mobile Authority, etc... Even name brand stuff sounds bad if it's cheap. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

This'll sound awesome and you spent around the same. Wire the coils in parallel (both positives together/both negatives together) for a 2 ohm load at the amp and you get 400 good watts RMS. Presto. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

^Thanks for the advice.
Would this suffice? KICKER® VCVR12 12" FACTORY-LOADED CVR SUB BOX 07VCVR122 - eBay (item 170495103453 end time Jul-03-10 20:00:36 PDT)

And what about the amp? A couple ppl said it was a good budget amp and I'm trying to keep everything around a decent price.
Not a good price at all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

The Kicker CVR is shitty and you can buy one for $60. No point in paying $100 for a prefab enclosure...

Check this stuff out if you want something decent for cheap.

subs:

MB Quart RWE-302

Phoenix Gold RSD

Alpine Type R

amps:

Alpine MRP-M500

MB Quart DSC500.1

If you'd like an amp that can power your entire system, take a look at the MB Quart DSC4125 or Crescendo Audio 1000C4.

Shitty? Really? What's wrong with the CVR? I had the first ones that came out and also the 2009 models and they sounded good. Didn't distort at all and went pretty low. They took the power well. Never failed. The guy doesn't want something crazy. Maybe you're being too picky. He's not trying to win a show. He just wants a dose of good bass. Calling the speakers shitty is not constructive or helpful and just makes things harder. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

That seems like that would be out of my budget. I noticed both of you recommended subs w/o the enclosure, what am I suppose to do about that? A guy from my job said he would put everything in for me.

Prefab enclosures are generally really crappy, dude. I'd recommend a custom built enclosure regardless of which subwoofer you decide to purchase.

Besides, if you can pay $250+ for a pair of crappy Kicker Comp 10"s in a prefab enclosure and a tiny little Hifonics amp, why can't you pay $240 for the nicer MB Quart 12" sub and the more powerful DSC4125 amplifier that'll give you the option of powering an entire system?

You could always upgrade to component speakers at a later time, man. Noone's saying you have to rush out and buy all of this stuff at once...

Sounds like doo-doo? Very mature post. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif jg77, get a single enclosure. They're not too expensive. It's not like your ears will detect the difference between a custom built one and a pre-fab one. When you get more money, get something better. Just enjoy what you get now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
