Getting fired, am I facing legal issues?

Nothing, it was closed. I had it on top of my shredder. My boss said he saw it and asked about it, and my boss just told him it was mine. Said he wasn't too happy about me having my personal laptop at work.
Then he saw nothing? Maybe you needed it for work, just say you had some things from work on it?

Like some posters said...

DENY DENY DENY

Oh I thought he saw it open and on some website or something. Maybe just tell him you prefer using that over the work computer sometimes?

This happened to a friend of mine, and they got a warrant for all the files.... that he already deleted...

Now it saved all of his activity on the network to their server... so they already knew what he did, and he got another charge of destroying evidence.

He got fired and the company is suing him for an UNGODLY amount (100,000s of dollars) and he faces charges now... all over a few games and some music off of morpheus.

I'm assuming he was fired. I got an email this morning saying he's no longer with the company, and about an hour later another one changing all the pw's to the companies website. They've never changed the pw's since I've been here (just about 2 years).
Maybe it was something totally different if they changed the pws...

Is it a government contractor? If so you’re screwed. They may have more restriction and more penalties to enforce.

The company has legal right to prosecute you for violating the company information act and can hold you responsible if it feel you have proprietary information on your computer. Plus if you knowingly used company computer resources to download or stream non-work related media for illegitimate purposes you are screwed as well.

Good luck buddy...

your laptop so your business. if its on their pc then its thier business.imo if they ask to see your laptop, tell them to f-off thats your personal business.

who is to say someone wasent sitting out front jacking your signal and doing things that may be considered a nono?
his laptop

their network

All this shit is makin me nervous. I'm on the forum at work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

Although my boss sees me on here all the time and doesn't give a shit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

They can't get a warrant because that would be illegal, even more illegal than downloading. Because they have no proof of downloading, it is in your laptop, which they can't get a warrant for.
It's a good thing.
Not true. It went through their netwroks. They could be logging traffic.

I'm sure they can trace it on the network here. We've got our own IT guy for the company, and it's a small company, so he's always on top of shit.
pay him off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
