Getting even with landlord Legaly!

when you find out who towed your truck go find the property management's car and flatten the tires. then call the tow yard up pretending to be the property management and say "yea we have another vehicle that needs towed, come get it right away". owned. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
I suggest that you go back to lurking.

No they cant renters have way more right than land lords. As along as my rent comes in on time and im not trashing my apartment they cant do anything more to me. Even if they somehow tried to evict me i renters have squatting rights. As for the tow even CHP gives you 72 notice to move a vehicle if they believe its been abandoned. They cant legally give me a 2 hour notice and then have my vehicle towed. Im pretty sure there are requirements as to giving proper notification i mean my apartment is only 50ft away from where the truck is parked they could have given me the notice it was parked in my designated parking spot.
I wish I lived in your fantasy world. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

You broke your landlords rules, therefore you must suffer the consequences. Why does it seem that everyone always points the finger at everyone except themselves. It's your fault that the truck got towed.
Yes the tires needed air. But 2 hours notice to inflate them isnt right. Not to mention they didnt even give me the notice they put it on the truck and then towed it two hours later. Lets say your car is parked on the street and for one reason or another your tires went flat the police came by and put a notice on it and then 2 hours later took your vehicle without you even knowing. How would you feel? I used to drive the truck all the time but i bought a new vehicle and was keeping the old truck as a project. Its parked in my space that i am assigned for my apartment. It dosnt leak oil or cause any kind of mess just had low tires and as far as their rules they never said low tires were enough to have your car towed. They said when i moved in that a vehicle had to be leaking oil and causing a mess on the property. A simple phone call asking if i could inflate the tires would have been enough for me to do so. Trust me there are other cars here in worse shape than my truck but they are still here they leak oil but they have air in the tires so really whats a bigger issues? On top of that they dont maintain their community and they want to single me out for an eye soar?

You could always go break your ankles on these

Or shock the piss out of your self on these

And then go find a shady lawyer to sue the bejesus out of them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Negligence is a mutherf*cker.

Im with just about everybody else. Youd do more harm to yourself, Then you would trying to attempt harm on them. Sure you could call whoever on all the "wrongs" around there, But chances are they'll get a "warning / clean up period" and youd be right back where you were in the beginning, with that much waisted time.

I mean im well aware of landlord / tenant act, However i dont think you have enough "Proof", to get them into ANY kinda trouble. Most they'll have to do, Is fix the exposed wiring, and clean up the boards in the bushes. The fence having a hole in it is nothing anybody would care about, Nor the fact they leave the gate open for period's of time.

My best advice, Get your pantys out of a bunch, Go get your truck back from impound, Get the tires fixed, And move on with life.

*Edit* I also wouldnt suggest trying to hurt yourself, And suing either. You've provided too much info in this thread, for someone to tell your managers about this thread, and your possible future action's.. Just saying.

Im sure its a lot different then ohio, but take the issue to "city code" The wife and I rented our first home years back and the vent in the master bedroom wouldnt let off any heat, although the others did, we had to keep the heat full blast to get good heat in the bedroom. Long story short, got into a little *****ing match with the owners, moved out, and sued them for $1561 for the gas bill because they were negligent. yes, granted, I still had heat, but the bill wouldnt have been that much if I didnt have to crank it up so they took the rap for the $1561! basterds, thats what they get. Not too sure if you have much of an issue to make something happen, but never know I guess.

Here this is for you and the rest of the ignorant please go educate yourselves.

Big deal.

Go report them. Someone a year later will come check everything out.. Tell them to make fixes..

So they clean up the wood and tighten up the electrical receptacles.. They might fix your peeling paint..

But if YOUR apartment is the only one they are told about peeling paint.

They will know it was you that sold them out.

In the real world the people who do this get ****ed over by the landlord/maintenance people.

They will have your car towed again and again and again.. Who knows what else they might do to **** with you..

Turn your water off, cut your cable, turn off your power at random times.. *shrug* i've heard some funny horror stories of people that tried to screw with their landlord..

Also how do we know they actually only gave you two hours notice? Good chance yer bsing or since you missed the first notice because you or someone found it on the ground.. Maybe you didn't get the other 10 notices..

Is the car's license plate registered to your apartment do they know its yours?

we have one assigned parking spot that is covered any additional vehicles park in the non covered areas of the property. This truck was parked in the covered assigned spot so they know who it belongs to my apartment is only 50 feet away and they send out monthly rent bill to us in our mail box that is on the property i dont see why they couldnt put the notice there. Maybe they did put multiple notices on the vehicle but the fact of the matter is i didnt receive them they didnt say that they had put a bunch of notices on the truck they said they put a notice on it before it was towed. They could have put the notice in the mailbox or on my front door or just called me and said hey can you fix your truck or move it please? They claim the registration was not current because it didnt have the tag on the license plate but the truck was registered as non operational its a cool old truck that i was keeping to fix up one day. DMV says the truck can be parked on private property if its registered non op i just cant park it on a city street and its in my parking spot on private property again the management could have taken appropriate steps to contact me to find out if it was registered or not instead they just assumed it wasnt. As for proof of the two hour notice here it is

I know its a little hard to read but the time reads 2:00pm on 4/26/09 I by chance was doing some laundry and sway the tow truck pull up and asked him what was going on. So sure i had two flats on the truck that needed attention but really a 2 hour notice and then towing the vehicle is pretty extreme. Ive been doing research and found that if they dont fix the issues on the property I have the right to hire a qualified licensed contractor to come in and fix the issues and then deduct the amount of the repairs from my rent. They do have maintenance on staff but so far they havnt fixed the big issues and if maintenance tries to fix the electrical and they arnt licensed electricians i can have them fined for that. If they were to start harassing me Id move without notice as i have that right as well. As it stands id rather not move until its into a home that i own but if the situation got out of hand id rather do that than live with a hostile land lord. They got my only car that they can tow. They cant tow my cop car unless the hige a crain to come pick it up but even then its got current tags no flats and its insureds The other two cars we have are an escalade and an audi which they probably dont even know that those vehicles are ours. If the impound is going to cost me more that what the truck is worth im going to have to take the loss. But if not ill get it back and if they want to be extreme on rules than i will as well it goes both ways and really the worst thing they can do is to evict me in which case i get out of here and then take them to court over wrongful eviction. As long as im paying my rent on time and not destroying the place they have no case. They only way to shut off my power would be at the main breaker which our units are fed in blocks of 8 units same with water garbage and sewer all 8 units run on 1 meter if they kill anything to any 1 unit the other units loose it as well. A little compassion goes a long way and they obviously dont have any so heck im laid off for another month and a half ive got all the time i want to be an @ss right back

Try telling the cops you didn't receive the notice to appear in court or that your license was suspended.. Won't work..

Is there anything that says how much notice they have to give you before towing the car?

I agree that they are mostly in the wrong..

Your car was towed so now you are going to have to pay hundreds to get it out of the lot.. And you are likely going to have to have it towed somewhere else for storage which is going to cost you another $100+.. If you bring it back to the spot they are going to tow it again unless you can convince them otherwise.. I wouldn't do this over the phone you need to talk to someone face to face..

If you want to screw them you need to make it look like you are not the one doing it.. and you are going to need to embellish (lie) about how bad the living standards really are.
